Citroen C3 Aircross Unveil Today – Teaser Out
French car manufacturer Citroen will unveil its upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross SUV today in India. This upcoming model from Citroen is a 3-row SUV based on the Citroen C3 hatchback and it is said to rival the likes of C-Segment SUVs such as Hyundai Creta.
In addition to that, the upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross SUV will be made available in both 5-seater and 7-seater variants. This makes the Citroen C3 Aircross, the only 7-seater SUV in its segment.
In terms of powertrain, the Citroen C3 Aircross SUV will be powered by the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that powers the Citroen C3 hatchback. This engine in the latter produces 108.4bhp of power and 190Nm of torque.
That being said, we also expect to see the naturally-aspirated version of this powertrain to keep the starting price aggressive. This 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated engine in the Citroen C3 hatchback puts out 80.8bhp of power and 115Nm of torque.
Since the Citroen C3 Aircross will be heavier than the C3 hatchback, we expect the French automaker to have reworked the gear ratios to suit the additional weight of the 3-row configuration.
Moreover, gearbox options on the upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross is likely to include the tried-and-tested 6-speed manual transmission and a new 6-speed torque converter gearbox. Also, the naturally-aspirated powertrain is expected to come exclusively mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
In terms of features, we expect the Citroen C3 Aircross SUV to come with additional features over the C3 hatchback to justify its premium pricing. Moreover, spy shots have revealed that the C3 Aircross will come with features such as digital instrumentation and roof-mounted AC vents for the middle row.
When launched, the upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross will compete against C-segment SUVs such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and MG Astor in India.
In terms of pricing, we expect Citroen to price the C3 Aircross SUV closer to the Rs 9 lakh mark for the base variant. However, it is safe to expect the prices for the top-spec variants to hover around the Rs 15 lakh price bracket.
