Tickets Go On Sale For India's First-Ever Night Race - Here's Everything You Need To Know
Ticket sales for India's first-ever Formula 4 & Indian Racing League night races in Chennai have opened. The history-making race will see open-wheeled racers blast across Chennai's streets at night next week on the 9th and 10th of December.
The Night Race Weekend on the second weekend of December will see racers from both the Indian Formula 4 Championship and the franchise-based Indian Racing League blast across the Chennai Formula Racing Circuit.
The 3.5km long street circuit, which is the longest of its kind in India, sports 19 corners and will start and finish at Chennai's Island Garden Grounds and will see racecars blast across Flag Staff Road, Anna Salai, Sivananda Salai, and Napier Bridge.
What will make next weekend's race something to watch out for, other than the night aspect of it, will be the Indian Racing League (IRL) race. The IRL is made up of six franchises - Hyderabad Blackbirds, Speed Demons Delhi, Chennai Turboriders, Godspeed Kochi, Goa Aces and Bangalore Speedsters. All six franchises, as per the rules of the league feature one female racer as a part of their teams.
While the team names are shared with the Formula 4 teams, IRL differs from the Formula racing series by awarding points to individual racers.
Chennai Formula 4 Night Race Ticket Availability & Pricing
Tickets for the night race in Chennai were recently opened on Paytm and see seating areas for spectators divided into 4 categories - Grand Stands (8), Premium Stand, Gold Lounge and Platinum Lounge.
Currently, as of the writing of this article, only Weekend Passes are still available to purchase for Grand Stands 2, 4 and 5 which are going for Rs 2,125.
Weekend Passes are also the only option for those looking to get into the Premium Stand and are priced at Rs 5,949. All prices mentioned are early bird prices.
Daily and Weekend Passes are still on offer for the Gold and Platinum Lounges which offer access to exclusive food and hospitality areas along with meet-and-greet opportunities with drivers and team personnel for Gold Lounge Pass holders.
Platinum Lounge Pass holders get on top of all the benefits offered to Gold Lounge Pass holders and also get access to the paddock and pit lane walks as well as premium viewing locations on the circuit.
Daily passes for the Gold & Platinum Lounges are priced at Rs 6,799 for the Gold Lunge and Rs 10,999 for the Platinum Lounge. Weekend passes for the Gold Lounge are priced at Rs 11,899 while the Platinum Lounge Weekend pass is going for Rs 16,999 (all prices mentioned are Early Bird rates according to Paytm).
Thoughts About The Chennai Night Race
The Chennai Night Race will be one for the history books. With racers set to blast across the streets of the Island Garden street circuit in machines capable of hitting 220km/h, it promises to be a Fast and Furious weekend of racing in Chennai.
