German carmaker Volkswagen has revealed the ID7 electric sedan at CES 2023 in Las Vegas. The Volkswagen ID7, which first debuted as the ID Aero concept last year, will offer a range of up to 700km on a single charge.
The ID7 showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show was finished in a 40-layer camo paint job dubbed Electroluminescent that has been inspired by QR codes and features 22 different controllable sections.

When an electric current is passed through the 'Electroluminescent' paint, these 22 different layers light up. Altogether the 40 layers of paint and the electrical wiring carrying the current inside it weigh around 70 kilogrammes.
The Volkswagen ID7 will take on the Tesla Model 3. The full design of the ID7 will be revealed in the summer with the electric sedan set to go on sale later in the year. The new ID7 will be Volkswagen's only sedan offering its home continent's D-Segment when it hits the streets.

The Volkswagen ID7 is based on the German automotive giant's MEB platform for electric vehicles and the new sedan is quite a bit bigger than its American rival. The Volkswagen ID7 is 4,940mm long, 1,859mm wide and 1,529mm tall and the wheelbase of the EV is 2,969mm long.
When it hits the streets later this year, the new Volkswagen ID7 will be targeting a WLTP range of 700 kilometres on a single charge. The Volkswagen ID7 is expected to feature a 77.4kWh battery pack, the largest one the German firm currently offers.

Step inside the Volkswagen ID7 and you'll be greeted by the large 15-inch infotainment screen which features back-lit illuminated sliders and controls for the air conditioning integrated into the first level of the infotainment system.
Also seen is a digital driver's display and an Augmented Reality (AR) head-up display. Another feature sees the ID7 detect an approaching driver based on their key and will already start to cool the interior on hot summer days or heat the interior on cold days before the driver gets into the vehicle.
Thoughts About The Volkswagen ID7
The Volkswagen ID7 is an all-electric sedan that will challenge the Tesla Model 3 when it arrives later this year. VW will fully reveal the ID7 later this year which is when we'll get more details about the electric sedan.
