BYD Seagull Officially Unveiled: A New Electric Hatchback
BYD, a prominent Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently submitted an application for trademark registration in India. The trademark is intended for their latest offering in the Indian market - a cutting-edge electric hatchback named Seagull.
As of now, the launch timeline is not confirmed. If launched, the Seagull will be the smallest offering in BYD's lineup. Moreover, it will be going against the likes of Tata Tiago EV, MG Comet EV, and Citroen eC3. The prices of the Seagull is expected to range from Rs. 9 Lakh to Rs. 11 Lakh (Ex-Showroom).

BYD Seagull is expected to be offered in funky colour schemes. BYD unveiled the Seagull officially for the first time at Shanghai 2023 Motor Show in April. It is the brand's most affordable vehicle so it makes sense that BYD is considering launching it in the Indian market.
As of now, the specs of the BYD Seagull have not been revealed officially. However, as per rumors, the Seagull is expected to be offered in two versions - Standard and Long range.

The standard version of the electric vehicle will be equipped with a 76 brake horsepower (bhp) electric motor, providing efficient and sustainable power. This motor will be powered by a 30 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack, which serves as the primary energy source for the vehicle. With this setup, the electric vehicle is projected to offer an impressive range of approximately 305 kilometers on a single charge.
The long-range version will have a larger battery pack with a capacity of 38 kWh, which should provide a driving range of around 405 km. It will also feature a more powerful electric motor with approximately 98 bhp.

Just like other BYD vehicles, the design of the Seagull is also very unique. It looks compact, has a tall body design, and is quite aggressive at the same time. The bonnet and the windshield have a seamless slope when looked at from the side profile. The headlamps have an aggressive design, and interestingly, there is only one wiper for the windshield.
On the sides, there are alloy wheels, flush sitting door handles, and plastic cladding. The front and rear bumpers are quite aggressively designed, and the rear tail lamps are slim. Despite being an affordable car, BYD is offering a light bar at the rear.

DriveSpark Thinks
This new vehicle from BYD, the Seagull, showcases the brand's commitment to sustainable mobility solutions and further strengthens its presence in the rapidly growing Indian electric car sector. Set to rival the Tata Tiago EV, Citroen eC3, and other cars in the sector, the Seagull has to come with state-of-the-art features and a decent spec-sheet.
