BYD, a global leader in the production of electric vehicles and power batteries, has introduced Fangchengbao, its new specialized sub-brand that aims to redefine the driving experience. The brand's first model, BAO 5, is an off-road SUV that harnesses the Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) Super Hybrid Platform. Additionally, BYD unveiled a concept car called BAO 8 and BAO 3 during the launch event.
Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD, stated that Fangchengbao seeks to revolutionize the landscape of electric vehicles by offering professional customization options for users worldwide. The brand name symbolizes precision ("FANGCHENG" for "formula") and agility ("BAO" for "leopard"), highlighting specialized technologies like the DMO Super Hybrid Off-Road Platform.

Fangchengbao envisions an unparalleled user experience through a combination of cutting-edge energy technologies and individual preferences. Whether driving through wilderness or cityscapes, seeking excitement or commuting daily, every scenario can now be tailored to provide an exclusive driving experience.
To achieve this goal, Fangchengbao will integrate BYD's advanced technologies and forward-thinking design ethos into their vehicles. This integration will be supported by a vertically integrated supply chain system to offer unique tailor-made possibilities for each vehicle.
The DMO Technology was also unveiled at the event as a significant departure from traditional gasoline engines. This innovative platform powers Fangchengbao vehicles while prioritizing energy efficiency and empowering users with top-of-the-line technology.
The DMO combines BYD's Revolutionary Non-Load-Bearing Frame Designed for Hybrids with a specialized off-road hybrid architecture. This integration incorporates high-performance chassis expertise along with intelligent electric four-wheel drive capabilities and off-road powertrains. As a result, DMO achieves optimal vehicle safety while delivering powerful off-roading abilities and efficient energy consumption.
Unlike traditional modifications that increase weight and rollover risks, the DMO uniquely combines the Blade Battery and high-strength steel frame using Cell to Chassis (CTC) technology. This ensures battery safety during extreme off-road scenarios while significantly enhancing overall vehicle safety.
The platform also features longitudinal EHS electric hybrid system, an industry-first off-road rear-drive powertrain, and the Xiaoyun longitudinal high-performance engine. Together, these components provide a formidable system power of over 500kW and unmatched traction of 32,000N. Additionally, intelligent torque control technology allows for a turning radius of just 3.4 meters and effortless navigation through various terrains.
With three Differential Locks and a low-speed gear designed for off-road scenarios, DMO vehicles offer enhanced capabilities in swampy terrains, rugged mountains, gravelly slopes, and other extreme environments.
Furthermore, DMO incorporates double-wishbone independent suspension at both ends along with the DiSus-P Hydraulic Body Control System to ensure SUV-like comfort even on challenging terrains. The platform achieves 35% fuel savings compared to gasoline-powered off-road vehicles.
