Powering the X3 M40i is BMW's B58 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine which pushes out 360bhp and 500Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox and BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive system.

The BMW X3 M40i offers multiple driving modes - Comfort, Eco Pro, Sport, and Sport+. In its balls to the walls, Sport+ mode, the BMW X3 M40i sprints from 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h.

The BMW X3 M40i for India comes packed with quite a few design highlights. The large kidney grilles are painted high-gloss black. The same paint scheme is applied to the ORVMs while the exhaust is finished in black chrome.

The X3 M40i also gets Matrix LED headlights, 20-inch light alloy wheels, and M Sport brake callipers finished in red. The new BMW SUV also gets the M Sport differential, adaptive M suspension and variable sports steering wheel.

Other features include a panoramic sunroof, seats with electrical adjustment and memory, wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play for the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display. The infotainment setup is hooked up to a 16-speaker Harman Kardon music system.

The new BMW X3 M40i comes packed with even more tech including three-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, BMW live cockpit professional, heads-up display, automatic start-stop function, cruise control with braking function, automatic differential brakes with electronic differential locks and parking assist plus.

Thoughts: The BMW X3 M40i is the most powerful X3 currently in India and to own it you have to pay quite a hefty premium. However, the exclusivity in India and the extra horsepower under the hood will make it quite a desirable SUV.
