BMW X3 M40i Bookings Opened Ahead Of Its Launch – Available In Limited Numbers Only
German luxury car manufacturer BMW has opened bookings for the upcoming BMW X3 M40i SUV in India ahead of its launch in the country, and the booking amount for the SUV is capped at Rs 5 lakh.
Speaking about the upcoming BMW X3 M40i, the SUV is the performance-oriented version of the X3 and it is scheduled to be launched in May. However, unlike other variants of the BMW X3 SUV, the upcoming BMW X3 M40i will be available in limited numbers only.
Speaking about performance, the upcoming BMW X3 M40i SUV is powered by the same powertrain that is in the BMW M340i sedan. However, the engine has been slightly detuned in the BMW X3 M340i.
In the BMW X3 M40i, this 3.0-litre, inline-6, turbocharged petrol engine puts out 357bhp of peak power and 500Nm of peak torque. This power and torque is delivered to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Thanks to this powertrain and its all-wheel-drive setup, the upcoming BMW X3 M40i can sprint to 100km/h from a standstill in just 4.9 seconds. To put that into perspective, the E90 BMW M3 with its V8 engine and DCT gearbox accomplished the same feat just 0.3 seconds quicker.
That being said, the top speed of the upcoming BMW X3 M40i SUV is limited to 250km/h and the SUV also sports a 48V mid-hybrid system to improve overall efficiency and reduce emissions.
Other than that, the upcoming BMW X3 M40i SUV comes with a few M Sport-specific performance-enhancing bits such as M Sport brakes, M Sport differential, adaptive M dampers, and variable sport steering.
When launched, the BMW X3 M40i will compete against the Porsche Macan S in terms of performance, and the latter is powered by a 2.9-litre, turbocharged, V6 petrol engine with 376bhp of power and 520Nm of torque.
Apart from that, Porsche claims that the Macan S can do 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 259km/h. In terms of pricing, the Porsche Macan S is priced at Rs 1.43 crore, ex-showroom.
