BMW R18 Transcontinental Launched In India At Rs 31.50 Lakh – 1,800cc, Reverse Gear & More
BMW Motorrad India has launched the new R18 Transcontinental motorcycle at Rs 31.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India) - Making it the fourth motorcycle in the R18 model range after the R18, R18 First Edition, and R18 Classic First Edition.
The bookings for the new BMW R18 Transcontinental has already commenced in the country and like other BMW R18 motorcycles, the new BMW motorcycle is also brought to India as a CBU (completely built-up unit) model.
The first thing one will notice about the new BMW R18 Transcontinental is its sheer size and this size is further accentuated by panniers, top box and large handlebar-mounted fairing. Speaking about size, the fuel tank can hold 24 litres of petrol and the whole motorcycle weighs 427kg.
In order to propel this mammoth motorcycle, BMW has equipped it with a 1,802cc, oil-cooled, twin-cylinder, boxer engine. This powertrain in the new BMW R18 Transcontinental is tuned to produce 89bhp of peak power at 4,750rpm, and 158Nm of torque at 3,000rpm.
Furthermore, a 6-speed gearbox efficiently transfers the power and torque from the powertrain to the rear wheels via a shaft drive system. In addition to that, BMW is also offering an optional reverse gear on the new BMW R18 Transcontinental motorcycle.
In terms of features, the new BMW R18 Transcontinental comes with a large 10.25-inch infotainment system, Marshall Gold Series Stage 2 audio system with 6 speakers and a subwoofer, adaptive cruise control, engine braking control, hill-start assist, stability control, adaptive LED headlamps, ride modes and more.
The new BMW R18 Transcontinental can be specified in five colour options - Gravity Blue Metallic, Black Storm Metallic, Option 719 Mineral White Metallic, Manhattan Metallic Matte, and Option 719 Galaxy Dust Metallic/Titan Silver 2 Metallic.
