BMW iX1 Sold Out In India – A Sign Of Imminent EV Revolution

BMW recently launched the all-electric BMW iX1 electric SUV in India at Rs 66.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Now, despite the price tag, the electric SUV has sold out within a few hours.

That being said, the newly launched BMW iX1 xDrive30 electric SUV is available in just one trim level and the electric SUV boasts a range of 440 kilometres on a fully charged battery pack.

Coming to the powertrain, the new BMW iX1 xDrive 30 features two electric motors placed over both axles, lending the model with all-wheel-drive capability. Moreover, the combined output of these electric motors stands at 313bhp and 494Nm of torque.

This powertrain setup enables the BMW iX1 electric SUV to sprint to 100km/h from a standstill in just 5.6 seconds. However, the top speed of the SUV is limited to just 180km/h. The model also comes with a 66.4kWh battery pack.

In terms of charging, the BMW iX1 charges up from 0-100 per cent in about 6.3 hours using the standard 11kW AC charger. On the other hand, it takes just 29 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 per cent using the 130kW DC fast charger.

Design-wise, the BMW iX1 looks very similar to its petrol-powered cousin, the BMW X1. In fact, the model features nearly identical design lines. However, the distinction comes in the form of the 'i' emblem mounted on the front grille.

Also, the new BMW iX1 electric SUV is available in 4 monotone colours - Grey, Silver, Black, and White. It is also worth mentioning that the electric SUV rides on sturdy 18-inch alloy wheels and features adaptive suspension for a smoother drive.

In terms of features, the new BMW iX1 comes with a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital information display, a Harman Kardon sound system with 12 speakers, 6 distinct ambient lighting modes, and a panoramic sunroof.

The model also features adaptive LED headlights, an automatic tailgate operation system, a reclining rear bench seat, two-zone climate control, front seats with massage function, and a parking assist feature.

In terms of safety, the new BMW iX1 electric SUV comes with safety features such as ABS, ESP, traction control (TC), multiple airbags, and more. The model also features ADAS tech for added safety.
