The new Sierra EV is one of an array of Gen 2 EVs from Tata Motors that the Mumbai-based firm showed off at Auto Expo 2023 in Greater Noida. The Sierra EV like the rest of Tata's Gen 2 EV lineup sits on a scalable platform that can be used to spawn both electric and ICE vehicles.
2023 Auto Expo: Tata Sierra EV Design
The Tata Sierra EV looks a lot more production-ready than the concept that was first seen at the previous edition of the Auto Expo in 2020. While the overall look of the Sierra EV hasn't changed much from 2020, the newly revealed SUV looks more ready to hit the streets than ever before.
At the front, the Sierra EV sports a full lightbar-style DRL setup with the Tata badge sitting below it. Underneath this sits a chrome strip that connects the actual headlamps. You can find a large faux grille which can be opened up for the Sierra in ICE form.
The sides of the new Sierra EV are where you find more clues that this SUV looks ready to hit the production lines. The Sierra EV SUV from Tata Motors features conventional wheels and the wheels sitting inside the squared-off wheel arches would look normal on a production vehicle.
At the rear, an integrated roof spoiler is visible as are LED taillights and a conventional tailgate. The interiors also look more conventional with a dual-display setup seen on the dash which along with the rest of the cabin features a dual-tone look.
Auto Expo 2023: Tata Sierra EV - Expected Range & Launch
Tata Motors has been mum about the Sierra EV's actual powertrain and the timeline for its launch. However, with Tata's lineup of Gen 2 electric vehicles set to hit the streets by 2025, expect the Sierra to arrive anytime in the next two years.
While battery specs and range have not been offered by Tata, we expect the Sierra to deliver a range of around 500km when it hits the streets which is what the Mumbai-based firm had stated it was aiming for with its Gen 2 EVs.

The Tata Sierra EV unveiled at Auto Expo 2023 looks ready to hit the roads tomorrow. When that tomorrow actually comes is still up to Tata Motors, though we wish they would hurry up and unleash this nostalgia machine onto the streets.
