MG4 EV showcased at Auto Expo 2023. The MG4 is a large all-electric hatchback currently sold in the European markets and the EV has now made its Indian debut at Auto Expo 2023.
The MG4 EV is part of a whole host of vehicles showcased by the Chinese-owned British carmaker at Auto Expo 2023 as it looks to gauge the public's reaction to them.
MG4 Specs & Dimensions
The MG 4 is offered with a choice of two battery packs - 51kWh and 64kWh with the larger unit offering up a range of 452km on the WLTP cycle. Both batteries are from MG's One Pack battery system which can be swapped out.
Both battery packs power a single electric motor that delivers power to the rear axle. The smaller battery pack powers a 170bhp electric motor while the larger power pack is connected to a 203bhp motor.
The MG4 EV is based on SAIC's Modular Scalable Platform which supports both 400V and 800V architectures. When connected to a charger supporting the more powerful architecture, the MG4 EV can charge up its battery pack to 80 per cent in just 15 minutes.
The MG4 EV is 4,287mm long, 1,836mm wide, and 1,504mm tall. The MG4 EV's wheelbase is 2,705mm long.
MG4 Design & Features
The MG4 EV is a rather large-sized hatchback that competes with the likes of the Kia Nero and the VW ID3. The MG4 EV features a rather brilliant design with a sharp-looking front end with wraparound headlights. Lower on the front bumper sit the LED DRLs.
The MG4 EV features smooth body panels that help with the airflow around the car and the hatch rides on some snazzy-looking alloy wheels. At the rear, the MG4 features full-length LED taillights that connect to the MG badge in the centre. Also seen is a rather unique spoiler setup with two wings covering the two halves of the rear windscreen.
Thoughts About The MG4
The MG4 is a large all-electric hatchback which combines good looks with fast-charging battery packs that offer a range of up to 452km. If it does arrive in India, the MG4 is expected to compete with the BYD Atto3.
