Auto Expo 2023: Lexus LM Showcased - Launch This Year

Lexus has showcased the LM luxury MPV at Auto Expo 2022. The Lexus LM is basically a rebadged Vellfire and will arrive in India by the end of the year.

The Lexus LM is expected to arrive in hybrid guise when it hits our roads later this year. However, the version of the LM luxury MPV showcased at Auto Expo was the non-hybrid V6 model badged with the 350 nameplate.

2023 Auto Expo: Lexus LM Specifications

The Lexus LM is offered with either a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine seen on the model showcased at Auto Expo 2023 or a petrol-electric strong hybrid with a 2.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine and two electric motors (one for each axle.

The model showcased at Auto Expo 2023 is the V6 variant and bears the 350 nameplate. The Lexus LM 350's engine produces either 270bhp or 296bhp depending on the market it is sold in and sports either a 6-speed or an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The Lexus LM 300h which will arrive in India features an Atkinson cycle 2.5-litre four-pot engine and two electric motors. The engine and the electric motor at the front work in conjunction with each other and produce a combined 197bhp. The rear motor powers the rear wheels when needed and forms an electrified all-wheel drive setup. The rear motor is rated at 67bhp. The hybrid LM 300h uses an e-CVT gearbox.

Auto Expo 2023: Lexus LM Design & Features

The Lexus LM looks like a typical MPV with an upright boxy shape that is enhanced by the firm's signature design elements. These design features include the spindle grille, which is flanked on either side by angular headlamps. There are cutouts on either edge of the front bumper that host more lights and feature L-shaped surrounds in chrome.

The sliding doors and the shape of the glasshouse is all Vellfire though the full-width wraparound LED taillights are unique as are the chrome bits that sit below them.

Inside, the Lexus LM offers palatial amounts of space thanks to a 3-metre long wheelbase and the rear sporting massive captain seats that recline and feature ventilation. The two passengers at the rear are separated from the driver by a partition and there is a large 26-inch display for all their infotainment needs with a refrigerator keeping the required drinks cooled.

Owners also have the option to spec the LM as a 7-seater to take the entire family out together.

The Lexus LM showcased at Auto Expo shows the growing popularity of ultra-luxury MPVs in India. While the segment may be small, the success of the Vellfire seems to have been enough to get Lexus interested in getting the LM to India.
