Audi Q8 e-tron Launching In India: Going Down The Electric Avenue
Audi will launch their top-of-the-line electric SUV, the Q8 e-tron, in India on August 18th. The Q8 e-tron will be available in two trims, Q8 e-tron SUV and the Q8 e-tron Sportback. The electric four-wheeler will be brought to India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit).
Balbir Singh Dhillon, the head of Audi India, said that the Audi Q8 e-tron will be launched globally at the same time as its launch in India. This goes to show the impact and importance of the Indian car market.
The Audi Q8 e-tron is available in 3 variants, 50, 55, and SQ8 but India will most likely only see the first two variants. The Q8 e-tron 55 has almost a 100km increment in range from its predecessor. The new Q8 e-tron can travel up to 582km on a single charge. The previous model could only travel up to 484km.
The Audi Q8 e-tron Quattro has dual electric motors which have a total output of 335bhp and 664Nm of torque. The e-tron 50 is powered by a 95kWh battery pack that has a range of 491km on a single charge (WLTP).
On the other hand, the Q8 e-tron 55's dual motors produce 402bhp and 664Nm of torque and have a 104kWh battery pack. This variant can travel up to 582km on a single charge (WLTP).
The new Q8 e-tron comes with a variety of new cosmetic upgrades such as a dual-tone trapezoid-shaped grille, a 2D Audi Logo, with new design cues being followed on the front and rear bumper, and on the headlight and tail lamp. Also, we see Audi written on the B-pillar.
In India, Audi's fleet of EVs include the e-tron 50, e-tron 55, e-tron Sportback 55, e-tron GT, and the RS e-tron GT. Now, the Q8 e-tron SUV variants and the Q8 e-tron Sportback variants will get added to its lineup.
Audi India is doing quite well in terms of getting customers siding with their vehicles and the company is witnessing a surge in customers opting for their vehicles. Launching the Q8 e-tron at this time is the smartest choice as their market is already booming.
To put thing into perspective, Audi sold 3,474 units from January 2023 to June 2023 which shows a massive growth of over 97% since the same time period, last year.
Thoughts On The Audi Q8 e-tron
Audi has updated their new Q8 e-tron to suit the modern times and to improve performance. However, due to that, we could expect to see a more expensive price on this model. The Audi Q8 e-tron will challenge the likes of the Jaguar I-Pace, BMW iX, and the Mercedes-Benz EQB.
