The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Is A Two-Faced Meeting Of The Past & The Future

Italian luxury carmaker Alfa Romeo has revealed the 33 Stradale, a limited-run sports car offered in both ICE & Ev guises. The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is the firm's first custom-built car since 1969.

The all-new Alfa Romeo sports car takes its name from the 33 Stradale produced from 1967 to 1969. The new Alfa 33 Stradale is limited to just 33 units and all are spoken for.

With Alfa Romeo set to go fully electric by the year 2027, the firm is using the new 33 Stradale to bridge its past with its future. This is best seen with the ICE & EV powertrain options on offer with the all-new 33 Stradale.

The ICE powerplant on offer is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine, which does suggest that the new car could be sharing parts (specifically the Nettuno engine) with its Stellantis stablemate, the Maserati MC20.

In the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, the engine is tuned to develop 620bhp. The pure EV config (details about which are scarce), on the other hand, pushes out over 750bhp.

With these powerful powertrains under the skin of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, it comes as no surprise that the Italian firm is claiming a 0-100km time of under 3 seconds and a top speed of 333km/h. The EV delivers a claimed WLTP range of 450km.

While the powertrain choice is something owners will decide, the external design isn't. This is a good thing as the new 33 Stradale takes the design of the 1960s original and turns it into a tribute to that car's beautiful lines.

At the front, the new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale sports rounded-off headlights with the front air intake featuring a modern take on the firm's iconic Scudetto shield. The sculpted clamshell bonnet opens to the front.

There are even more throwbacks further down the 33 Stradale's bodyshell including the butterfly doors with glass cutting into the roof. The rear clamshell opens towards the back where we find circular taillights and a rather busy diffuser.

The interiors are a different matter altogether and are unlike anything we've seen on Alfa Romeo to date. The cabin features a driver-focused minimalist design with a retro-looking steering wheel and a small screen set under the dashboard controlling the infotainment. Also seen are levers and switches on the centre console.

Thoughts About The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale

The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is both a throwback to the past and a glimpse into the future of the iconic Italian marque. If Alfa Romeo's future is anything like the 33 Stradale, we cannot wait to see it despite its electric silence.
