Maruti Suzuki Celerio Achieves 7 Lakh Unit Sales Milestone – A Remarkable Feat
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio may look like a humble hatchback, however, this hatchback revolutionised the Indian automobile industry by introducing the AMT gearbox.
Ever since its launch in India, Maruti Suzuki Celerio has gained a lot of momentum in the Indian market, especially in tier 1 and tier 2 cities. A few years back, Maruti Suzuki launched the second-generation Celerio hatchback based on the HEARTECT platform.
Now, Maruti Suzuki has announced that it has sold more than 7 lakh units of Celerio hatchbacks in India. This is a remarkable achievement considering the Celerio hatchback has tough competition from the same manufacturer itself in the form of WagonR.
Speaking about the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, the hatchback is available in 4 rim levels - LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. It is also worth mentioning that, the Celerio hatchback is also available with CNG-compatible powertrain.
Coming to the powertrain, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio is powered by the tried-and-tested 1.0-litre, naturally-aspirated engine. This engine produces 65.7bhp At 5,500rpm and 89Nm of peak torque at 3,500rpm. However, the CNG model produces 56bhp at 5,300rpm and 82.1Nm of torque at 3,400rpm.
Customers can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT gearbox with the Celerio hatchback. However, the CNG version of the Celerio hatchback comes exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
In terms of features, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio comes decently equipped for its price with features such as steering-mounted controls, front and rear power windows, a 7-inch infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, an adjustable steering wheel, and much more.
Pricing-wise, the base 'LXi' variant of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio hatchback is priced at Rs 5.36 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the top-spec ZXi variant with AMT gearbox is priced at Rs 7.14 lakh (ex-showroom),
On the other hand, automatic gearbox (AMT) can be specified with VXi variant onwards. As such, prices for the Celerio automatic range starts from Rs 6.38 lakh (ex-showroom). Also, the CNG variant is exclusively available with the VXi trim and costs Rs 6.73 lakh (ex-showroom).
