2024 Maruti Suzuki Powertrain Details Out – Comes With Hybrid & Non-Hybrid Engines
The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift is currently one of the most exciting upcoming cars, and new details regarding the model have now been leaked online. These leaked information reveal plenty of details including powertrain specifications, dimensions, and mileage.
Starting with the powertrain, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback will feature an all-new 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, 3-cylinder engine (codenamed Z12). This new engine replaces the 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, 4-cylinder engine (codenamed K12) which powered the last three generations of Swift.
That being said, the new Z12 engine may seem like a downgrade with its 3-cylinder configuration but in reality, the new engine is said to possess significantly improved volumetric efficiency due to larger capacity cylinders, resulting in better torque.
Other positives of the new Z12 engine include its lighter weight, which is likely to result in better performance, and fuel efficiency as well. Also, the lighter weight of the new engine will also benefit the handling characteristics of the 2024 Swift in a positive manner.
However, the new powertrain is not without its demerits. For starters, the new Z12 engine is not expected to possess the rev-happy nature of the K12 engine. Moreover, thanks to the 3-cylinder configuration, NVH levels are likely to take a slight hit.
According to the latest information, the 2024 Swift is expected to get both Hybrid and Non-Hybrid variants of this engine. The latter is expected to produce 150bhp and 150Nm of torque in international markets, however, we expect the Indian-spec model to be slightly detuned.
Like the current generation Maruti Suzuki Swift, we expect the 2024 Swift hatchback to come equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, unlike the current-gen Swift, the upcoming model will feature a CVT gearbox. This CVT gearbox is likely to be the sole gearbox option for the Hybrid variant.
The 2024 Swift is very fuel efficient as it returns 23.4km/l mileage with the non-hybrid engine and 24.5km/l with the hybrid powertrain. In comparison, the manual variant of the outgoing Swift returns 22.38km/l, whereas the AMT variant returns 22.56km/l of mileage.
In terms of dimensions, the 2024 Swift hatchback sports an identical 2,450mm wheelbase as the outgoing model. However, the upcoming model is longer by 15mm at 3,860mm. Also, the 2024 Swift is 30mm lower and 40mm narrower, measuring 1,500mm and 1,695mm, respectively.
In terms of features, we expect the 2024 Swift to come equipped with more features including a larger touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, connected car tech with more variables and more standard equipment.
