2024 Renault Duster Unveiled – India Launch Imminent
Renault-owned Dacia brand has unveiled the all-new 2024 Duster SUV for the global market in Portugal. According to the automaker, the new Duster SUV will go on sale in Europe by the first half of 2024.
Once the new Dacia Duster SUV hits the European markets, the model will be sold to other markets outside of Europe, including India. Speaking about India, Renault is said to bring the new Duster SUV to India by the second half of the year 2025.
Speaking about the newly unveiled third-gen Renault Duster, the SUV is built on the automaker's highly versatile CMF-B platform. This platform has spawned numerous successful models sporting Renault, Dacia, and Nissan badges.
Starting with the design, the new 2024 Renault Duster looks butch and rugged, in fact, the model looks very evolutionary with plenty of contemporary design cues. At the front, the LED headlamp unit is slit by Y-shaped LED DRLs that connect with the front grille.
Other interesting design elements include vertical air vents, simple round fog lamps, large squared-off wheel arches, roof rails, spoiler, Y-shaped taillights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a tapered rear quarter glass.
It is also worth mentioning that the new Duster is slightly longer than its predecessor at 4.34 metres long and the boot space stands at 472 litres. Also, the new 2024 Renault Duster will be offered with a 3-row seating layout.
However, it is worth mentioning that the 7-seater version of the Renault Duster will take some time before it hits the production line. We expect this version of the Duster to be at least a year away.
Despite the possibility of a 3-row version of the 2024 Renault Duster, the new model actually sports a shorter wheelbase at just 2,657mm. Thanks to this shorter wheelbase, we expect the new Duster SUV to be a bit more nimble and have better off-road capability than its predecessor.
On the Inside, the new Duster SUV gets a layered dashboard with light and dark grey shades. There is also a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that is slightly tilted towards the driver. Also, the model sports couple of AC vents below this screen.
It is also worth mentioning that the new Duster SUV comes equipped with 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a new multi-function 3-spoke steering wheel. Apart from this, the interior of the new Duster offers plenty of storage space as well, making it very practical.
Standout features include wireless charging pad, automatic climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Arkamys 3D audio system with 6 speakers and ADAS tech. The latter even comes with advanced features such as auto emergency braking, lane change assist and more.
Under the hood, the new Renault Duster will be offered with at least 3 engine options. Out of these three engine options, two engines come with electrification. Moreover, the 1.6-litre engine gets not one but two electric motors as well.
This powertrain system also uses a 1.2kWh battery pack and comes exclusively with an automatic gearbox. Also, according to Renault, the Duster SUV with this powertrain can commute on electric power alone.
The next engine option is a 12-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with 128bhp. This engine also comes with electrification but in the form of a 48V starter motor. The last option is a 1.0-litre, petrol-LPG powertrain, which will be available in certain markets such as Poland.
It is also worth mentioning that the new Renault Duster SUV will be available in both 4X2 and 4X4 guise. Furthermore, it will also sport multiple terrain modes for better off-roadability.
According to the automaker, the new Duster has a ground clearance of 217mm, an approach angle of 31 degrees from the front and a departure angle of 36 degrees from the rear. The model will also sport hill-descent control as well.
