2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift Spotted Testing In India - Video
The next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift has been spied testing in India for just weeks after Suzuki took the wraps off the car at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show.
In a video shared on Instagram, the new 2024 Swift can be seen on Indian roads, though the test mule was heavily camouflaged with barely a body panel visible under the coverings.
However, despite the camo drapings on the test vehicle, the covered-up car does give up quite a few of the design highlights that give it away as the next-gen Swift hatchback for India. The test mule sports revised rear bumpers and taillights. Also seen is a roof-mounted spoiler which hosts the third brake light and some snazzy alloys.
This is not the first time that the new Swift, which sports a new Z-Series petrol engine, has been spied testing in India after its unveiling in Japan at the end of October. Earlier snapshots of another test mule of the 2024 Swift for India revealed identical front design cues to the car revealed in Japan including the new grille and L-shaped DRLs among others.
Details about the new Swift's interiors and the tech that powers were revealed at its unveiling at the Tokyo Motor Show last month. The Swift showcased on the motor show floor featured a new dashboard layout with an upright floating touchscreen infotainment display and AC controls that look to have been taken from the Fronx.
The new Swift also sports a new flat-bottomed steering wheel rectangular AC vents and a dual-tone theme of black with white contrast elements that look rather pleasing to the eye.
The 2024 Swift revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show is powered by an all-new three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine dubbed the Z12E, that has a displacement of 1.2 litres. The new Z12 engine on the Swift pushes out 89bhp and 113Nm of peak torque.
It is not clear if Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Swift in India with this brand-new engine. However, if it does, the claimed near 40km/l mileage in its hybridised guise could very well help sales of the Swift skyrocket to new levels.

The latest spy video of the new Swift testing on our roads shows that very little is expected to change when it comes to overall design in terms of design. With the new Swift sporting a host of safety (ADAS) and other upgrades (hybrid among others), we cannot wait for it to come to India.
