2023 Honda City Facelift Launched At Rs 11.49 Lakh – Two New Entry-Level Variants Introduced

Honda Cars India has launched the facelifted version of the Honda City sedan in India at Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Moreover, Honda has also introduced two new entry-level trims.

Thanks to the introduction of new entry-level trims, the facelifted version of the Honda City is now Rs 38,000 more affordable than the previous model. Furthermore, the hybrid version of the Honda City is now Rs 1 lakh more affordable, thanks to the introduction of the aforementioned entry-level trim.

In terms of design, the facelifted version of the Honda City sports a few subtle changes and these changes make the sedan look a bit sharper with its reprofiled front bumpers and slimmer chrome slat. While the sportier honeycomb front grille is reserved for higher-spec variants, others get vertical slats.

Like all facelift models, the updated version of the Honda City side profile looks pretty identical to the model it replaces, except for the new alloy wheels. At the rear, the facelifted version of the Honda City gets new bumpers and a spoiler on the boot for a sportier appeal.

Moreover, the facelifted model now gets a total of 4 trim levels including the new entry-level 'SV' trim. While the Hybrid powertrain was previously limited to just ZX trim, this powertrain has been now made available in 3 trim levels including V, VX, and ZX.

In terms of features, the top-spec variants now get ADAS with active safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, low-speed follow, lead car departure, blind-spot detection and more. What's more interesting is that ADAS is even offered in manual variants as well.

Other note-worthy features on the higher-spec models of the facelifted version of the Honda City now include 6 airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, rain-sensing wipers, and ambient lighting.

Also, the updated model now features two engine options that are compliant with the upcoming emission norms and E20 fuel. The 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine continues to produce 120bhp of power and 145Nm of torque and can be specified with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT gearbox.

On the other hand, the 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine produces 97bhp of peak power and 127Nm of peak torque, whereas the electric motor that is part of the hybrid system puts out 108bhp. In total, the hybrid system together produces 125bhp and 253Nm of torque.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the petrol-only version of the Honda City with a manual gearbox can return a fuel efficiency figure of 17.8km/l, whereas the CVT variant returns 18.4km/l. That being said, the Hybrid version claims to deliver a fuel efficiency figure of 27.13km/l.

By introducing two new entry-level variants of the Honda City, the Japanese automaker has made their sedan a lot more affordable and attractive to a potential buyer. Moreover, the sportier exterior now makes the sedan look a lot more youthful and contemporary.
