1 Lakh Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUVs Sold In India – Fastest To Reach The Milestone In Mid Size SUV Segment
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is among the best-selling SUVs in its segment. Now, the automaker has celebrated the 1st anniversary of the model with a commendable achievement of selling more than 1 lakh units of the SUV in the country.
What makes the celebration even more special is that the model set a new record in its segment for reaching the milestone figure in a record time. Thanks to its strong sales performance, Maruti Suzuki is currently the market leader in SUV segment for the first half of this FY.

One of the reasons for the success of the Grand Vitara can be credited to the wide range of powertrain and drivetrain configurations available in the SUV. This includes a mild-hybrid powertrain, a mild-hybrid powertrain with all-wheel-drive, and a strong hybrid powertrain.
Speaking about powertrains in the Grand Vitara SUV, the mild-hybrid engine is the automaker's tried-and-tested 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This engine produces a total of 102bhp and 135Nm of peak torque.
This engine can be specified with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. There is also an all-wheel-drive equipped variant, however, this variant comes exclusively with the 5-speed manual transmission.
The strong hybrid engine is sourced from Toyota and this powertrain uses a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated, Atkinson-cycle, petrol engine and an electric motor. While the ICE produces 91bhp and 122Nm of torque., the electric motor supports the powertrain with 78bhp and 144Nm of torque.

Thanks to the electric motor, the strong hybrid variant of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV can travel up to 25km on pure electric power alone. It is also worth mentioning that the strong hybrid variant comes exclusively with an eCVT gearbox.
Features-wise, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV comes well-equipped with features such as a heads-up display, a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, connected car tech, wireless charging, ambient lighting, all-LED lighting, ventilated seats, digital instrument cluster and many more.

In terms of safety systems, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV is equipped with safety features such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, hill decent control, hill start assist, disc brakes on all four wheels, ESC, ISOFIX anchoring points and many more.
At present, prices for the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV starts from Rs 10.70 lakh (ex-showroom) for the mild-hybrid variant with manual transmission and goes all the way up to Rs 19.83 lakh (ex-showroom). Also, the all-wheel-drive model is priced at Rs 16.91 lakh (ex-showroom).
