The Zeekr 009 Is A Massive Electric Luxury MPV With 822km Range

While Zeekr first offering, the 001 electric estate was a swoopy thing that looked like it scythe through the air. Its second entry though looks to be the exact opposite with its massive blocky shape. However, Zeekr claims that 009 electric MPV has a drag coefficient of just 0.27 which the carmaker claims is helped by what it calls the largest aerodynamic windscreen in the market today.

The Zeekr 009 is imposing to say the least. The massive luxury minivan measures 5,209mm long, 2,024mm wide and 1,867mm tall. The wheelbase of the 009 electric MPV is 3,205mm long.

This allows for a three rows cabin with 2 seats in each row. Owners can also opt for a more opulent 2+2 executive setup which allows those sitting in the second row to really stretch their legs out.

Despite weighing in at 2,830 kilogrammes, the Zeekr 009 electric MPV can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 4.5 seconds. Allowing the massive electric to sprint so briskly is a dual motor setup that deliver 536bhp and 686Nm of peak torque.

The reason for all that weight are the battery packs that power the new Zeekr 009 electric MPV. The smaller offering is a large 116kWh pack that delivers a range of 702km on China's CLTC test cycle. The larger of the two packs offers up 140kWh allowing the Zeekr go 822 kilometres on a single charge as per the CLTC test cycle.

The Zeekr's standout exterior features are its massive grille and snazzy wheels. The grille is an illuminated metal unit with 154 programmable LEDs. The wheels measure 20-inches and the electric MPV also features sliding doors and a full length light bar style taillights.

The interiors are as crazy as the exteriors with a dual display setup on the dash with a smaller display for the instrumentation and a 10.4-inch infotainment screen. Adding to the drama is a ceiling mounted 15.6-inch touchscreen unit that can stream movies and other content or be used for conference calls.

The Zeekr 009 is offered with an optional air suspension system that lowers the MPV for easy entry and exit. The air suspension system also gets a self levelling feature and electromagnetic damping. Other features include face recognition, voice recognition, an AI intelligent assistant, in car communication system and a 20-speaker Yamaha audio system.

The Zeekr 009 also comes packed with driver assitance features that are powered by seven 8MP HD cameras, four 2MP 360-degree cameras, 12 short-range ultrasonic radars and one long-range millimeter wave radar. All these systems are provided by Mobileye which also supplies the two EyeQ5H 7-nanometer chips that process all the data generated by the system.

The Zeekr 009 may look like a massive box on wheels but with its massive battery pack and surprising coefficient of drag of just 0.27 delivers a massive 822km of range on a single charge while sprinting faster than many 'fast' cars on the roads today.
