Volvo has updated the XC40 Recharge electric SUV in the international markets just a few weeks after Volvo India rolled out the locally assembled iteration of the SUV.
That being said, it is yet to be known whether the updated version of the Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV will make its way to the Indian shores.
Diving into details, the updated iteration of the Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV now gets a larger 82kWh battery pack. In addition to that, the 2WD variant of the Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV also gets a more powerful electric motor for its propulsion requirements.
According to Volvo, this new electric motor in the single-motor variant of the updated Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV produces 235bhp of peak power instead of 228bhp in the previous model. Moreover, the latest update brings a rear-wheel-drive setup for the single-motor variant of the electric SUV.
On top of that, the larger battery pack in the updated version of the Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV comes with an improved range compared to its predecessor. According to Volvo, the updated iteration of the single-motor variant of the Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV can now travel 32km further, whereas the dual-motor variant can travel a whopping 64km further.
It is also worth mentioning that the updated Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV now supports fast charging up to 200kW and this enables the electric SUV to charge from 10 per cent of its capacity to 80 per cent of its capacity in just 10 minutes.
Recently, the Swedish luxury car manufacturer hiked the prices of the XC40 Recharge electric SUV in India and the prices of the model now starts from Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This makes the Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV costlier by Rs 1 lakh.
Speaking about the Volvo XC40 Recharge, the electric SUV racked up more than 150 bookings within the first few hours of opening the bookings and sports some unique design elements to help the electric SUV stand out and this includes design elements such as a completely sealed front grille, a few 'Recharge' badges on the sides, a set of new 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and a few more.
Moreover, the outgoing iteration of the Volvo XC40 Recharge is powered by two electric motors, pushing out 402bhp of peak power and 660Nm of peak torque.
