Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus Get Discount Up To Rs 80,000 This Festive Season
In a bid to attract customers and improve sales, Volkswagen is offering discounts up to Rs 80,000 on the Volkswagen Taigun SUV. In addition to that, the German automaker has also introduced some exciting offers for the Volkswagen Virtus sedan.

Diving into details regarding the latest discount offers, the top-spec GT trim of the Volkswagen Taigun SUV with the larger 1.5-litre TSI engine and DSG gearbox comes with a benefit of Rs 30,000, whereas the same engine paired with the 6-speed manual gearbox gets benefit schemes worth Rs 80,000.

In contrast, the base variant of the Volkswagen Taigun SUV comes with benefits up to Rs 30,000, whereas the rest of the variants of the Taigun SUV get benefits up to Rs 55,000.
On the other hand, the Volkswagen Virtus sedan customers get discounts and benefits up to Rs 30,000 on Comfortline and Highline trim levels. In comparison, the top-spec GT trim of the Volkswagen Virtus sedan gets a discount up to Rs 10,000.

So, if you are planning to buy a Volkswagen Taigun SUV or a Volkswagen Virtus sedan, this festive season could help you save some money.
Earlier, the German automaker hiked the prices of its models by 2 per cent due to the recent increase in the input cost. Though the updated prices were effective from the start of this month, the recently introduced offers and discounts make the Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun even more attractive than before.

Speaking about the Volkswagen Virtus sedan and Taigun SUV, the launch of these models in the Indian automobile market has helped the German automaker to gain some of the lost market share.
That being said, both the Volkswagen Taigun SUV and the Volkswagen Virtus sedan are underpinned by the German automaker's MQB-A0 IN platform as part of the automaker's India 2.0 business strategy. Apart from that, Volkswagen has been able to achieve more than 90 per cent localisation as well.

Thanks to the MQB-A0 IN platform, the Volkswagen Virtus is the biggest sedan in its segment measuring 4,561mm long, 1,752mm wide, and 1,507mm tall. Moreover, the German sedan also sports a best-in-class wheelbase of 2,651mm. In comparison, the Volkswagen Taigun also sports an identical wheelbase of 2,651mm, whereas other dimensions differ slightly as the SUV measure 4,221mm long, 1,760mm wide, and 1,612mm tall.

Since both vehicles use the same platform, both the new Volkswagen Virtus sedan and Volkswagen Taigun SUV come with an almost identical equipment list that includes features such as a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, a fully-digital instrument cluster, electric sunroof, automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, automatic wipers, cruise control, rear AC vents, auto headlamps, auto wipers and much more.

It is also worth mentioning that both the Volkswagen Virtus sedan and Taigun SUV come with top-tier safety features such as 6 airbags, hill hold control, ABS with EBD, traction control (TC), Brake Disc Wiping, Roll Over Protection, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), multi-collision braking system (MBS), hill start assist, Anti-Slip Regulation and Motor Slip Regulation, ISOFIX points and a few more.

As pointed out earlier, both the Volkswagen Virtus sedan and Volkswagen Taigun SUV come with identical engine options and the base engine option continues to be a 1.0-litre TSI engine with 113bhp of peak power and 178Nm of peak torque. This engine on both models comes with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The next engine option is the larger 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine with 147.5bhp of peak power and 250Nm of peak torque. This engine also has the ability to deactivate two of its four cylinders to further improve fuel efficiency. While the 6-speed manual transmission and the 7-speed DSG gearbox can be specified with the Volkswagen Taigun SUV equipped with the 1.5 TSI engine, the same doesn't hold true for the Volkswagen Virtus sedan as the 1.5 TSI engine in the Virtus sedan comes exclusively with the more sophisticated 7-speed DSG unit.

Post the price hike, the Volkswagen Virtus sedan prices start from Rs 11.31 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the base Comfortline variant, whereas the base variant of the Volkswagen Taigun SUV is priced at Rs 11.55 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
