Volkswagen Taigun Base Variant - Rs 1 Lakh More Expensive Than Rivals From Japan & Korea
With a starting price of Rs 11.56 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the base 'Comforline' variant of the Volkswagen Taigun SUV is more than Rs 1 lakh more expensive than its main rivals such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
However, can the German automaker justify the premium pricing, or does the Volkswagen Taigun offer something extra to justify the price tag? So, here's what Rs 11.56 lakh will get you with the Volkswagen Taigun 'Comfortline'.
Starting with the exterior, the base Volkswagen Taigun SUV does come with a few extras and does not feel 'stripped' as some of its rivals with the inclusion of design elements such as a front diffuser, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, rear diffuser, and black roof rails. However, the model does miss out on features such as more premium LED headlights, fog lamps, and alloy wheels.
On the inside, the base variant of the Volkswagen Taigun SUV does justify the premium price tag by offering a lot more features and a more premium-looking dual-tone interior. In fact, the 'Comfortline' variant does not feel like the base variant of the SUV with the inclusion of features such as a large 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 6-speaker audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, steering-mounted controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs, rear AC vents, dead pedal, front armrest, ambient lighting and more.
In addition to these features, the base 'Comfortline' variant of the Volkswagen Taigun SUV also comes with safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), multi-collision braking, anti-slip regulation, rear parking sensors, and a few more. Recently, the Volkswagen Taigun SUV also bagged a 5-Star safety rating from Global-NCAP, validating its build quality and crashworthiness.
Coming to the drivetrain, the base variant of the Volkswagen Taigun SUV comes with a 1.0-litre TSI engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox. This engine produces 113bhp of peak power and 178Nm of peak torque - Which is better than the base variants of its main rivals.
So, the base 'Comfortline' variant of the Volkswagen Taigun SUV seems to offer a lot more features and a better powertrain than the base variants of its main rivals. However, its rivals also sport a few features that are not available on the Volkswagen Taigun 'Comfortline'. As such, we highly recommend listing out the features that you may prefer having than looking at the overall features before making a buying decision.
In addition to that, Volkswagen is offering discounts up to Rs 80,000 on the Volkswagen Taigun SUV this festive season. Moreover, the base variant of the Volkswagen Taigun SUV comes with benefits up to Rs 30,000 - Making the SUV a lot more attractive option than ever before.
Thoughts About Volkswagen Taigun Base Variant
It is clear that the base 'Comfortline' variant of the Volkswagen Taigun SUV seems to offer a lot more features and a better powertrain than the base variants of its main rivals. This makes the SUV an overall better bet for many buyers in the Indian market.
