Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG To Sport Manual & Automatic Variants – Launch Soon
Maruti Suzuki is one of the first automotive brands in India to introduce factory-fitted CNG cars. Now, leaked information hints that the Indo-Japanese automaker is gearing up to launch the CNG version of the Brezza SUV with both manual and automatic gearbox variants.
Diving into the details, the information regarding the imminent launch of the CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza SUV equipped with an automatic transmission was leaked through the official website of the automaker itself, where the upcoming CNG version of the Brezza SUV has been hinted to sport a 6-speed automatic transmission.
It is worth mentioning that, with the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza CNG in India, the model will not only be the country's first CNG SUV but it will also be the country's first automatic CNG passenger car as well.
Moreover, given the trend of CNG vehicles in tier 1 and tier 2 cities, adding the desirability factor of an SUV and optioning an automatic gearbox in the mix seems to be a great idea for churning sales and improving market dominance.
Apart from that, the CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is expected to use the same 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine as the CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MUV. As such, this engine is likely to produce around 90bhp of peak power and 122Nm of peak torque using CNG as fuel.
In comparison, the standard variant of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza SUV equipped with a similar engine produces 103bhp of peak power and 138Nm of peak torque. However, this small sacrifice in power is more than justifiable for the low running cost the CNG version of the SUV is expected to provide.
Speaking about running cost, thanks to the lower kerb weight of the sub-4m SUV, we expect the CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza to be slightly more fuel-efficient than the CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MUV.
Coming back to Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the 2022 iteration of the sub-4m SUV was recently launched in the Indian market and the new model comes with numerous changes on both the exterior and interior. Also, the 2022 Brezza comes equipped with features such as an electric sunroof, an updated MID display, a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a heads-up display (HUD), Alexa compatibility, Cruise Control, connected car tech, rear AC vents, electric sunroof, Arkamys sound system, and much more.
Apart from that, the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza comes with top-notch safety features such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, an electronic stability program (ESP), a 360-degree surround-view camera, hill-hold assist, reverse parking sensors and much more.
In terms of pricing, we expect the upcoming CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza SUV to command a premium of at least Rs 70,000 over the standard variant of the SUV.

At present, Maruti Suzuki has the largest model lineup of factory-fitted CNG cars in the country. This includes hatchbacks and MUVs such as Alto, WagonR, S-Presso, Celerio, Eeco and Ertiga. Moreover, with the launch of the CNG version of the updated Brezza SUV and an option to choose an automatic gearbox, Maruti Suzuki is highly likely to boost its sales further by a significant margin, especially in tier 1 and tier 2 cities.
