Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG Bookings Open – India’s First CNG SUV

Diving into other details, the newly introduced Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder E-CNG SUV is likely to be powered by the same 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated, 4-cylinder engine that powers the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga S-CNG and Maruti Suzuki XL6 S-CNG MUVs. This CNG-compatible powertrain in the above-mentioned MUVs produce 87bhp of peak power at 5,500 rpm and 121.5Nm of peak torque at 4,200 rpm while running on CNG.

However, this engine produces a healthier 99bhp of peak power at 6,000rpm and 136Nm of peak torque at 4,400rpm while emptying the petrol tank. Moreover, the newly introduced Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder E-CNG will come with a 5-speed manual transmission and the company claims a fuel efficiency figure of 26.10km/kg while running on CNG fuel.

In terms of features, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV comes very well equipped with features such as LED headlamps, alloy wheels, a 0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple Car Play and Android Auto connectivity, 6-speaker Arkamys audio system, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, push-button Start/Stop, keyless entry, auto folding ORVMs with turn indicators, and much more.

Though Toyota is offering a long list of features, safety features have not taken any hit in a pursuit to price the model competitively, and the CNG SUV still comes equipped with safety features such as 6-airbags, reverse parking camera, ISOFIX anchoring points, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control (VSC), Hill Hold control, reverse parking sensors, and many more.

We expect Toyota to price the Urban Cruiser Hyryder E-CNG SUVs competitively at around Rs 1 lakh more than the respective petrol-powered variants of the SUV.
