Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Base Variant - Not A ‘Spartan’
Toyota recently launched the much-awaited Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV in India with an aggressive starting price of just Rs 10.48 lakh (ex-showroom, India). With an aggressive price tag, many sub-4m SUV buyers will also be interested in checking out the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV. As such, here's what the base 'E' variant of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV has to offer.

Engine
The base 'E' variant of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV comes equipped with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine sourced from Maruti Suzuki. This engine sports an Integrated starter generator and produces a total of 103bhp of peak power and 136Nm of peak torque.

Gearbox
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV in the base 'E' trim level comes exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission, as the 6-speed automatic transmission is only available from the 'S' variant onwards.

Exterior Features
To make sure the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is priced competitively, Toyota has opted for a few cost-effective measures, this includes the usage of a pair of Bi-halogen projector headlamps instead of the LED units found in higher models, a set of 17-inch steel wheels instead of alloy wheels, and the 'E' variant also misses out on a few detailing elements at the front, sides and rear as well.

However, the base 'E' variant of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV still comes with features such as LED taillamps, body-coloured ORVMs with integrated turn signals, body-coloured door handles, a shark fin antenna, and a roof-end spoiler.

Interior Features
Stepping inside the 'E' variant of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the first thing customers will notice is the lack of an infotainment unit. However, the model does get steering-mounted controls to navigate the 4.2-inch MID display that is positioned between the analogue speedometer and tachometer.

That being said, the base 'E' variant of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV is well-equipped for the price as the model still comes with a sliding armrest, adjustable tilt and telescopic steering wheel, keyless entry, push-button start, fully-automatic climate control system, rear AC vents, power windows, and a height-adjustable driver's seat. Some of these features are not even available on top-spec sub-4m SUVs.

Safety Features
Despite being the base variant, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder 'E' variant SUV comes with safety features such as dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS, EBD, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), engine immobilizer, ISOFIX anchoring points, manually adjustable Day & Night IRVM, and more. Thanks to these safety features, the base 'E' variant of the SUV ensures more than decent safety for its passengers.

Thoughts About Base 'E' Variant Of The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV
Despite being a base variant, the 'E' variant of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV still comes with a few standard features that are not even available in the mid-range variants of some sub-4m SUVs in the market. This makes the SUV an option worth considering for many top-spec sub-4m SUV buyers in the market.
