In recent times, Maruti Suzuki has been launching back-to-back models as part of attracting more customers and further extending its lead in the market share. As part of this aggressive plan, the Indo-Japanese automaker has now decided to tap into the ever-growing CNG passenger car segment in India by launching the CNG versions of the Baleno and XL6 in the country.
Diving into the details, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno S-CNG premium hatchback is the first CNG model in the Nexa lineup of passenger cars in India along with the Maruti Suzuki XL6 S-CNG MUV. So, here are the top 5 things about the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Baleno S-CNG.
Variants & Price
The newly launched Maruti Suzuki Baleno S-CNG premium hatchback is available in two variants - Delta and Zeta. In which the base 'Delta' variant is priced at Rs 8.28 lakh (ex-showroom, India), whereas the ‘Zeta' variant of the CNG hatchback is priced at Rs 9.21 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This means both CNG variants of the newly launched Baleno hatchback are priced at Rs 95,000 more than their respective conventional variants.
Engine & Gearbox
In terms of powertrain, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno S-CNG premium hatchback is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated CNG-compatible engine. However, unlike the standard variants of the Baleno hatchback, the CNG variants of the premium hatchback comes exclusively mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
In terms of numbers, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno S-CNG premium hatchback produces 76bhp of peak power and 98.5Nm of peak torque while running on CNG fuel. However, this engine is capable of producing a much healthier 89bhp of peak power and 113Nm of peak torque while using petrol.
Fuel Economy
The standard iteration of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback equipped with the 5-speed manual transmission comes with an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency figure of 22.35km/l - Which itself is astonishing for a car of its size.
In comparison, the newly launched CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno S-CNG hatchback is claimed to deliver a fuel efficiency figure of 30.61km/kg of CNG fuel. Moreover, the model comes equipped with a large 55-litre CNG tank, which ensures fewer visits to the CNG filling station.
Features
In terms of features, the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Baleno S-CNG premium hatchback comes with plenty of features. This includes features such as LED projector headlamps, a large 7.0-inch infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, voice assistance, connected car tech, OTA updates, start/stop button, power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and much more.
Safety
Despite the aggressive price tag, Maruti Suzuki has not skimped on safety features. In fact, the Baleno S-CNG comes equipped with a long list of safety features including safety systems such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX seats, hill-hold assist, electronic stability program (ESP), rear-view camera, rear parking sensors and much more.
