Top 5 Electric Cars In September 2022 – Tata Motors Continue To Dominate
The demand for electric cars in the Indian four-wheeler market is steadily increasing and automakers. Moreover, range anxiety among Indian consumers is on the decline as automakers are introducing new EVs with better range. As such, here are the top 5 electric cars in September 2022.
Tata Tigor EV / Tata Nexon EV (2,831 units)
Tata Motors continued to dominate the electric passenger car segment by managing to sell 2,831 units of its Tigor and Nexon range of electric vehicles. Thanks to such a dominating performance, YoY sales figures have jumped by more than 217 per cent as the company managed to sell just 893 units of electric vehicles in September 2021.
Moreover, MoM sales figures also increased marginally ahead of the festive season having able to sell 66 units more in September 2022 compared to 2,765 units sold in August 2022.

MG ZS EV (280 units)
MG Motor on the other hand has been able to keep up consistent sales figures for some time. In September 2022, MG Motor managed to sell 280 units of its ZS EV SUV. However, both YoY and MoM sales figures dipped by 14.4 per cent and 11.4 per cent, respectively.
We expect sales figures to remain around the same ballpark unless MG Motor comes up with some aggressive strategy to boost the EV sales figures.
Mahindra eVerito (112 units)
The Mahindra eVerito has been a reasonably successful electric passenger car for Mahindra. In September 2022, Mahindra Electric sold 112 units of eVerito electric sedan in India, clocking a staggering 489.4 per cent YoY sales growth.
On the other hand, the MoM sales figures also jumped by a massive 558.8 per cent as the company managed to clock just 17 unit sales in the previous month.
Hyundai Kona (74 units)
The sales figures for the Hyundai Kona electric SUV has not been impressive. However, the model is able to show signs of growth as the company managed to sell 74 units in September 2022, which resulted in an astonishing YoY growth of more than 957 per cent.
Also, the South Korean automaker managed to sell 1 unit more in September 2022 compared to the August 2022 sales figures.
BYD E6 (63 units)
The BYD E6 is the first attempt by the Chinese automaker to capture the growing EV market in India. So far the model has impressed many and the company managed to sell a respectable 63 units in September 2022.
Moreover, the MoM sales figure for the electric MUV increased by 40 per cent as the company managed to sell just 45 units in August 2022.
