Tata Nexon (14,295 units)

The Tata Nexon once again becomes the best-selling SUV in June 2022 by registering 14,295 unit sales. This means the sub-4m SUV witnessed a 78 per cent YoY sales growth compared to 8,033 units sold in June 2021.

The Tata Nexon is powered by two engine options, the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 118bhp and 170Nm of torque, whereas the diesel unit is a 1.5-litre powertrain with 108bhp and 260Nm of torque. Tata Nexon can also be specified with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed AMT gearbox. Prices for the Tata Nexon start from Rs 7.54 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the base 1.2-litre petrol variant.

Hyundai Creta (13,790 Units)

Though Hyundai Creta once again becomes the best-selling model in its segment as the South Korean automaker managed to sell 13,790 units of Creta SUVs in the last month, which is around 39 per cent more than what the South Korean brand had managed last year by selling 9,941 units in June 2021.

Hyundai Creta can be had with three engine choices. The ever-popular 1.5-litre diesel unit produces 113.45bhp and 250Nm of torque, whereas the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol unit pushes out 113.18bhp of power and 144Nm of torque. However, the most potent engine is the 138bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 242Nm of torque. Prices for the Hyundai Creta starts from Rs 10.44 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Tata Punch (10,414 Units)

The new Tata Punch became one of the best-selling SUVs in the country in a relatively short span of time. Moreover, the SUV is a favourite among new car buyers and registered a strong 10,414 unit sales in June 2022.

The Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 84.48bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. This engine can be specified with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Tata Punch range starts from Rs 5.82 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Hyundai Venue (10,321 Units)

The Hyundai Venue has been a consistent performer for the South Korean automaker and the company sold 10,321 units in June 2022. In comparison, the company sold just 4,865 units in June 2021. Moreover, this sales performance could increase in the coming months as the company introduced the updated model.

Like the Hyundai Creta, the Hyundai Venue is powered by three engine options. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 81.86bhp and 116Nm of torque, whereas the 1.5-litre diesel unit produces 98.63bhp and 245Nm of torque. Finally, the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 118.35bhp and a healthy 175Nm of torque. Prices for the Hyundai Venue starts from Rs 7.53 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Kia Seltos (8,388 Units)

The Kia Seltos has been one of the best-selling SUVs in India and the South Korean automaker sold 8,388 units in June 2022. In comparison, the Kia Seltos sold 8,549 units in the same period last year, thus resulting in sales dip of almost 2 per cent.

Under the skin, the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta are almost identical and also share powertrain options as well. Prices for the Kia Seltos start from Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Tata Motors' efforts to improve passenger safety in its cars are finally paying off as more customers have become aware of the importance of safety in cars. If this trend continues, Tata Motors could soon dominate specific segments of the Indian automobile market.
