Top 5 Best Selling Sub-4m SUVs: April 2022
The list of top 5 best selling sub-4m SUVs is here and the Tata Nexon yet again becomes the best selling sub-4m SUV in India. In addition to that, the Tata Nexon also registers a 94 per cent YoY growth rate. On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza becomes the second best selling sub-4m SUV in the country.
However, looking at the sales figures of the top 5 sub-4m SUVs, the overall sales of sub-4m SUVs have gone down as most models show a decline in both YoY and MoM sales numbers.
Tata Nexon (13,471 units)
Tata Nexon once again becomes the best selling sub-4m SUV in April 2022 as the company managed to sell 13,471 units in April 2022. In comparison to the previous year's sales performance, Tata Motors managed to register a YoY growth of more than 94 per cent as the company managed to sell just 6,938 units in April 2021.
However, in terms of MoM sales figures, the sales of Tata Nexon fell by almost 6 per cent as the company managed to sell 844 units more in the previous month.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza (11,764 units)
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza held on to its second spot on the list as the automaker managed to sell 11,764 units in April 2022. This means the Maruti Suzuki has registered a YoY sales hike of almost 5 per cent.
In comparison, MoM sales of the sub-4m SUV dipped by more than 5 per cent as the company managed to sell 675 units less than the previous month's sales figure.
Hyundai Venue (8,392 units)
The Hyundai Venue is a feature-packed SUV and has been a very successful product for the South Korean automaker in the country. In April 2022, the Venue yet again proved to be a consistent model for Hyundai as 8,392 units of the sub-4m SUV were sold in India. Though a decent number considering the market size, the YoY sales figure dipped by more than 25 per cent as the company managed to sell 11,245 units in April 2021.
In addition to that, the MoM sales figures for the Hyundai Venue also took a hit as the company managed to sell 828 units more in March 2022, resulting in a negative MoM growth of almost 9 per cent.

Kia Sonet (5,404 units)
Under the skin, both Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue are almost similar and both come packed to the brim with features. Apart from that, the Kia Sonet has been a very successful product for Kia Motors in the country. However, April 2022 sales for the sub-4m SUV have taken a 30 per cent hit compared to the 7,724 units sold in April 2021.
Apart from that, MoM sales figures for the Kia Sonet also took a massive hit of more than 21 per cent as the company had sold 1,467 units more in the previous month.
Mahindra XUV300 (3,909 units)
The Mahindra XUV300 has been slowly gaining market share in the Indian automobile market and the Indian automaker sold 3,909 units of the sub-4m SUV in April 2022. This has resulted in a YoY sales dip of almost 6 per cent.
In terms of MoM sales growth, the Mahindra XUV300 registered a negative growth of more than 5 per cent as the automaker sold 4,140 units in the previous month.
Thoughts About Sub-4m SUV Segment In India
The sub-4m SUV segment is one of the most competitive segments in the country and an important segment for the automakers to increase their overall market share. The latest trend clearly shows that Tata Motors is getting tremendous traction in the Indian automobile market.
