Top 5 Best Selling Mid Size SUVs In September 2022 - Scorpio N, XUV700, Harrier, Alcazar, & Hector
The mid-size SUV segment in India is now one of the most competitive segments in the country and it is bound to cause confusion among buyers as almost all SUVs in this category are very closely matched. However, with the launch of the Mahindra XUV700 and Scorpio N SUVs, a majority of consumers seem to have a clear opinion as SUVs from Mahindra seem to dominate the sales figures in the category.
Mahindra Scorpio / Scorpio N (9,536 units)
Mahindra recently commenced the deliveries of the Scorpio N SUV in India, and the model has gained tremendous traction in the Indian automobile market. While the sales figure for the Mahindra Scorpio and Scorpio N SUVs stood at 7,056 units in August 2022, sales figures further improved by 35 per cent to 9,536 units in September 2022.
Moreover, the launch of the Scorpio N SUV has helped Scorpio sales figures to improve by more the 268 per cent as the sales figure in September 2021 stood at just 2,588 units.

Mahindra XUV700 (6,063 units)
The Mahindra XUV700 has been an instant hit among Indian consumers. The SUV offers almost everything you want from a mid-size SUV and comes packed with technology. In addition to that, the Mahindra XUV700 sales figures in September 2022 stands at 6,063 units with a YoY sales increase of almost 343 per cent.
In comparison, the MoM sales figure for the SUV remained consistent as the company managed to sell 6,010 units in August 2022, resulting in an MoM sales increase of less than 1 per cent.
Tata Harrier (2,993 units)
The Tata Harrier SUV is a very important mid-size SUV in Tata Motors' product portfolio as the SUV has been very successful in the country by churning consistent MoM and YoY sales figures since its launch.
In terms of sales figures, Tata Motors sold 2,993 units of Harrier SUVs in September 2022. In addition to that, the YoY sales figure improved by 6 per cent as the company managed to sell just 2,821 units in September 2021. In comparison, the MoM sales figure improved by just a little more than 15 per cent as the sales figure in August 2022 stands at 2,596 units.
Hyundai Alcazar (2,643 units)
The Hyundai Alcazar is the 7-seater iteration of the Hyundai Creta SUV. In addition to that, the model comes with lot more features than the Creta SUV which it is based upon. In terms of sales figures, the company managed to sell 2,643 units of Alcazar SUVs in September 2022, resulting in a 37 per cent increase in YoY sales.
Coming to MoM sales performance, Hyundai witnessed an almost 15 per cent increase in sales as the company managed to sell just 2,304 units of Alcazar SUVs in August 2022.
MG Hector & MG Hector Plus (2,015 units)
It is very much known that the success of the MG Hector SUV in India laid the foundation for the Chinese-owned British automaker in the country. In addition to that, both MG Hector and MG Hector Plus have been consistently performing for the company since its launch in India.
In terms of sales figures, MG sold 2,015 units of Hector and Hector Plus SUVs, resulting in an almost 23 per cent decline in sales figures. However, the MoM sales figure improved by almost 10 per cent as the automaker managed to sell just 1,917 units in August 2022.
Thoughts About Mid-Size SUVs In India
The mid-size SUV category in India has become very aggressive in recent times. Moreover, thanks to new launches, the segment has almost doubled in size as well, and we expect the segment to grow further in the coming months as well.
