Top 10 Hatchbacks In September 2022 - One Model Clocks More Than 1000% YoY Growth
The Indian hatchback market is showing signs of strong growth with decent MoM and YoY sales increase. As such, here's the list of the top 10 hatchbacks sold in the month of September 2022. Moreover, it is also worth mentioning that the launch of the new Alto hatchback has helped Maruti Suzuki increase its market share for the month.

Maruti Suzuki Alto (24,844 units)
The Maruti Suzuki Alto becomes the best-selling hatchback in the month of September 2022 as the automaker manages to sell 24,844 units of the hatchback in the country. Thanks to the excellent sales figures, the Maruti Suzuki Alto witnessed a YoY sales growth of almost 105 per cent.
On the other hand, MoM sales figures for the Maruti Suzuki Alto hatchback witnessed a growth of more than 72 per cent in September 2022 as the Indo-Japanese automaker managed to sell 10,726 units more compared to August 2022.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR (20,078 units)
The Maruti Suzuki WagonR continues to rack up consistent sales figures as the company manages to sell more than 20,000 units in September 2022, resulting in a YoY sales growth of more than 163 per cent.
In comparison, Maruti Suzuki managed to sell just 18,398 units of the 'tall boy' hatchback in August 2022, resulting in a MoM sales growth of 9.1 per cent.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno (19,369 units)
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback continues to be the best-selling premium hatchback in the country as the company manages to sell 19,369 units of the hatchback ahead of the festive season with a YoY growth of almost 140 per cent.
In addition to that, MoM sales figures also improved by more than 5 per cent as the company managed to sell 951 units more in the month of September 2022 compared to August 2022.

Maruti Suzuki Swift (11,988 units)
The Maruti Suzuki Swift holds a distant 4th place in the list having managed to sell a respectable 11,988 units in the month of September 2022. That being said, YoY sales have skyrocketed to more than 375 per cent as the company managed to sell just 2,520 units of the hatchback in September 2021.
On the other hand, the MoM sales figures also went up by more than 6 per cent as the company managed to sell 713 units more compared to August 2022.

Hyundai i10 NIOS (9,459 units)
Hyundai takes the 5th spot in the top 10 hatchback list with its i10 NIOS after managing to sell 9,459 units of the hatchback in September 2022, resulting in a strong YoY sales growth of almost 127 per cent.
In comparison, MoM sales growth has been marginal at 2 per cent as the company managed to sell 9,274 units in August 2022.

Hyundai i20 (7,275 units)
The Hyundai i20 has managed to rack up decent sales figures as the company managed to sell 7,275 units in September 2022 with a YoY sales increase of more than 41 per cent. However, MoM sales of the i20 hatchback declined by 283 units compared to 7,558 units sold in August 2022, resulting in MoM sales decline of 3.7 per cent.

Tata Tiago (6,936 units)
The Tata Tiago once again managed to clock decent sales figures as the company managed to sell 6,936 units of the hatchback in September 2022, resulting in a YoY sales growth of more than 35 per cent.
On the other hand, MoM sales figures for the Tata Tiago also dipped by 3.7 per cent as the company managed to sell 7,209 units in August 2022.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis (5,750 units)
Though Maruti Suzuki managed to sell just 5,750 units of the Ignis hatchback in September 2022, the YoY sales figures for the hatchback were up by more than 1000 per cent as the company managed to sell just 522 units in September 2021.
However, MoM sales figures increased by the slightest of the margins as the Indo-Japanese automaker managed to sell just 4 units more than the previous month's sales figure.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio (5,390 units)
The newly launched Maruti Suzuki Celerio hatchback continued to be a valuable asset for the Indo-Japanese automaker as the company managed to sell 5,390 units of the hatchback in September 2022.
However, MoM sales figures were slightly disappointing as the company managed to sell 462 units less in September 2022 compared to the August 2022 sales figure which stood at 5,852 units.

Tata Altroz (5,227 units)
India's safest hatchback barely managed to take the 10th spot in this list after having sold just 5,227 units in September 2022. Moreover, the YoY sales figure for the Altroz hatchback declined by almost 10 per cent.
However, MoM sales figures turned out to be positive as the company managed to sell 259 units more in the month of September 2022 compared to the month before that.

Thoughts About Top 10 Hatchbacks In September 2022
Thanks to recent updates from Maruti Suzuki, the Indian hatchback market has yet again registered decent growth. However, other manufacturers seem to struggle a bit compared to the Indo-Japanese automaker no matter what the strategy is.
