Top 10 Cars Sold In October 2022 - Maruti Alto Continues To Dominate

1) Maruti Suzuki Alto - 21,260 Units

The Maruti Suzuki Alto continued its dominance of the Indian market with India's largest carmaker selling 21,260 units of the entry-level hatchback last month. Year-over-Year sales of the Alto were up by 22.26 per cent or 3,871 units compared to the same period last year when 17,389 units of the entry-level hatch made it to the showrooms.

2) Maruti Suzuki WagonR - 17,945 Units

Maruti Suzuki's WagonR tallboy hatchback claimed the second spot on the sales list for October 2022 with Maruti shipping out 17,495 units last month. Sales of the WagonR were up by 45.48 per cent or 5,610 units compared to October 2021 when Maruti sold 12,335 WagonR hatchbacks in the domestic market.

3) Maruti Suzuki Swift - 17,231 Units

Maruti Suzuki also claimed the third spot on the sales charts for October with the Swift. Maruti sold 17,231 units of the Swift last month which was a year-over-year increase of 87.80 per cent or 8,051 units (the highest on this list) compared to the same period last year. In October 2021, Maruti Suzuki sold only 8,051 units of the Swift.

4) Maruti Suzuki Baleno - 17,149 Units

The Baleno claimed the fourth spot on the list falling just 82 consignments short of the podium with 17,149 units reaching new homes in October 2022. Year-over-Year sales of the Baleno were up by 10.12 per cent or 1,576 units compared to the 15,573 units sold in October 2021.

5) Tata Nexon - 13,767 Units

Providing some respite from the Maruti barrage was India's best-selling SUV, the Tata Nexon. Tata Motors sold 13,767 units of the Nexon last month which was a year-over-year gain of 36.36 per cent or 3,671 units. Tata sold 10,096 Nexons in October 2021.

6) Maruti Suzuki Dzire - 12,321 Units

Maruti Suzuki returns to the list in the sixth spot with the Dzire compact sedan. Maruti sold 12,321 Dzires last month with Y-o-Y numbers rising by 52.54 per cent or 4,244 units compared to October 2021 when Maruti shipped out 8,077 units of the compact sedan.

7) Hyundai Creta - 11,880 Units

Hyundai's only offering on this list comes in the form of the Creta with the South Korean carmaker selling 11,880 units of the SUV last month despite increased competition from Toyota and Maruti Suzuki. Creta sales rose by 84.04 per cent or 5,425 units Y-o-Y compared to October 2021 when Hyundai sold 6,455 units of the SUV.

8) Tata Punch - 10,982 Units

Tata's second offering in this top 10 list comes in the form of the Punch micro SUV. Tata sold 10,982 units of the Punch in October as crowds surged into showrooms for the Dhanteras-Diwali festive period.

9) Maruti Suzuki Ertiga - 10,494 Units

Maruti Suzuki's Ertiga claimed the title of the nation's best-selling MPV with 10,494 units finding new homes last month. However, sales of the Ertiga were in the red, dropping by 18.80 per cent or 2,429 units compared to October 2021, when Maruti sold 12,923 units of the MPV.

10) Maruti Suzuki Brezza - 9,941 Units

Sealing off this top list is Maruti Suzuki's offering in the sub-4-metre SUV segment - Brezza. Maruti Suzuki sold 9,941 units of the Brezza last month which was a Y-o-Y growth of 23.77 per cent or 1,909 units compared to the 8,032 units sold in October 2021.
