This Fleet Operator Orders 2,000 Xpres-T EVs From Tata Motors
Tata Motors has announced that it had signed an agreement with the EV-based urban transportation service provider, Evera. Under this agreement, Tata Motors will add 2,000 units of Tigor Xpres-T EVs to Evera's fleet. It is also worth mentioning that, Evera already has an existing fleet consisting of electric vehicles from Tata Motors.

As 2,000 units of Xpres-T EV is a relatively large order, these 2,000 units of electric sedans are expected to be handed over to Evara in a phased manner. Moreover, the automaker is yet to reveal the targeted delivery timeline.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, "With the XPRES-T EV Sedan we have created a new benchmark in the fleet market, and it is heartening to see renowned fleet aggregators joining the green mobility wave with us. Evera has been associated with us since a long time, and we are delighted to further strengthen this tie-up, by signing an agreement of delivering 2000 EVs to them. X-PRES T EV offers enhanced safety, fast charging solution, a premium interior theme along with dynamic performance at an affordable price. We hope to continue our association with Evera and jointly work towards offering greener and safer mobility options to our customers."

Earlier, Tata Motors had partnered with another EV-based urban transportation service provider, Lithium Urban Technologies to supply 5,000 Tata Tigor Xpres-T EVs to the aggregator. Moreover, these electric vehicles are said to be handed over to Lithium Urban Technologies in a phased manner and the target cars will be delivered before the end of 2023.

"We are glad to announce our collaboration with Tata Motors. This association aligns with the Government of India's National Electric Mobility Mission Plan and demonstrates our commitment to provide eco-friendly yet most efficient, comfortable, and sustainable mobility solutions to the customers. With this fleet of Tata Motors' EVs, our start of the airport services at the Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, is around the corner and will propel us further towards this goal. We are also looking to expand to other cities to fast-track the EV adoption in the country by creating an end-to-end ecosystem. This collaborative approach with Tata Motors, shall further our vision and allow consumers to access a network of safe-mobility solutions across the country. We will continue to lead shaping the EV fleet industry with more such strategic partnerships." Said, Mr Nimish Trivedi, Co-founder & CEO of Prakriti E-Mobility, the parent company of Evera.

Speaking about electric vehicles, Tata Motors is currently dominating the Electric Passenger Vehicle segment in India and enjoys an unprecedented market share of more than 85 per cent in FY22. Moreover, the 'Xpres' sub-brand of Tata Motors has been specifically created for fleet operators and the first EV from Xpres is the Tigor-based 'Xpres-T EV'. It is also worth mentioning that, unlike the Tata Tigor EV, the Xpres-T EV will be only sold for commercial purposes, and as a result, the Tata Xpres-T EV cannot be registered as a private vehicle in the country.

Speaking about the differences between these two electric vehicles, the Tata Tigor EV comes with a larger 26kWh battery pack, whereas the Xpres-T EV comes with two choices for the battery pack - 16.5kWh and 21.5kWh. In addition to that, the Tata Xpres-T EV comes with a 70V, 3-Phase induction motor with 39.4bhp of peak power and 105Nm of peak torque as opposed to the Tata Tigor EV's 74bhp and 170Nm electric motor.

In terms of charging, the Tata Xpres-T EV can charge from 0-80 per cent in just 90 minutes when equipped with the 16.5kWh battery pack, whereas the same feat takes 110 minutes for the Xpres-T EV equipped with the larger 21.5kWh battery pack.

According to Tata Motors, the Xpres-T EV equipped with the smaller 16.5kWh battery pack can cover 165kms on a single charge, whereas the Xpres-T EV equipped with the larger 21.5kWh battery pack can cross the 200km mark with its claimed range of 213kms.

Thoughts About The Tata Xpres-T EV
The Xpres-T EV carries a near-identical silhouette of the Tata Tigor EV. However, Tata Motors has made subtle revisions to keep the cost down. When compared to Tata Tiago EV, the Xpres-T EV may seem like a step down, however, the EV more than meets the requirements of fleet operators in India. Moreover, an order of such a massive scale would also extend Tata Motors' dominance in the EV sector in India.
