Tata Motors To Deliver 1,000 XPRES-T EVs To EC Wheels; Signs MoU With Kolkata-Based Cab Operator
Tata Motors is all set to deliver 1,000 units of the XPRES-T EV to EC Wheels. Tata Motors and EC Wheels India Pvt Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding to deliver 1,000 of its XPRES-T electric commercial passenger vehicle to the app-based urban transportation company.
Tata Motors launched the XPRES-T brand of cars in July 2021. It was based on the Tata Tigor EV, but the XPRES-T was solely targeted at the intra-city taxi segment. Several cab aggregators and urban mobility companies have already purchased the Tata XPRES-T and Tata Motors has already accumulated thousands of bookings for the electric car.
It is available in two versions. The base variant is powered by a 16.5kWh battery pack that can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 90 minutes. This variant has a claimed range of 165 kilometres. The top-spec variant has a bigger 21.5kWh battery pack that takes 110 minutes to charge from 0-80 percent. This variant has a claimed range of 213 kilometres.
In terms of features, the Tata XPRES-T comes with a Harman infotainment system and speakers, automatic climate control, electrically-adjustable ORVMs, alloy wheels, etc. The safety aspect is taken care of by dual airbags and reverse parking sensors complete the package.
The range and features offered by the Tata XPRES-T makes it almost perfect for intra-city cab services and hence companies like the EC Wheels are opting for the notchback sedan. EC Wheels India Pvt Ltd is a Kolkata-based urban mobility brand. Customers can use the app to book a cab ride. Now, the company has opted to go green with the Tata XPRES-T.
Ramesh Dorairajan, Senior General Manager for network management and EV Sales, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd, was quoted as saying, "With a market share of 90 percent in the EV fleet segment in India and the Eastern region, X-Pres-T EV has created a new benchmark as it offers enhanced safety, fast charging solution, a premium interior theme along with a dynamic performance at an affordable price. With this association, we have taken a giant leap towards the future of mobility, helping the country to #EvolveToElectric."
Thoughts On Tata Motors Delivering 1,000 EVs To EC Wheels
Tata Motors is a brand that has contributed immensely to the growth of electric mobility in the Indian passenger vehicle segment. A majority of Tata EVs are sold through the commercial route to fleet operators and this simply means, a lot of pollution is being cut down on. A further 1,000 XPRES-T EVs being delivered over the next few months will further reduce pollution in the country.
