Tata Updates Harrier & Safari With New Safety Features – Prices Also Hiked
The Tata Harrier and the Tata Safari SUVs have gained decent traction in their respective segments. Moreover, both these SUVs have gained a reputation as comfortable SUVs with good mile-munching capabilities.
Now, in a bid to increase the competency of the SUVs against its rivals, Tata Motors have updated both the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari SUVs. These newly added features will be available in 'XMS' and the above variants of both these SUVs.
Also, it is worth mentioning that the newly added features are already available on the JET Edition variants of both these SUVs. It is expected that with the addition of these newer features, Tata Motors will be able to attract a wider range of customers in the country.
Since not everyone will be able to stretch their budget to buy the Jet Edition of the Tata Harrier or Safari SUVs, having some of the features will appeal to a lot of customers in the segment. Moreover, not all customers will like the specific theme on the Jet Edition variants of the Safari and Harrier SUVs.
Diving into details, all variants of the Tata Harrier SUV will get USB Type C ports at the front. Also, XZ and the above variants of the Tata Harrier SUV will get USB Type C ports at the rear as well.
In addition to this, Tata Motors has upped the safety quotient of the Tata Harrier SUV by equipping the 'XZS' and above variants of the model with an enhanced ESP comprising of added safety features such as doze-off alert, panic brake alert and after-impact braking.
Finally, the 'XZ+' variants of the Tata Harrier SUV now get more effective disc brakes at all four corners along with a parking brake and wireless charger. On top of that, iRA-connected car tech has also been updated to offer features such as smartwatch app connectivity, usage analytics, drive analytics, monthly health report, manual and auto DTC check, and more.
Coming to the flagship SUV of Tata Motors, the Tata Safari SUV also gets similar updates on the respective variants. That being said, both Tata Safari and Tata Harrier SUVs sport the same 2.0L, turbocharged, 4-cylinder Kryotec diesel engine. This engine produces a healthy 167.67bhp of peak power at 3,750 rpm and 350Nm of peak torque at 1,750 rpm. Apart from that, this diesel engine can be specified with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
With the update, Tata Motors has hiked the prices of the Harrier SUV up to Rs 31,000, whereas the prices of the Tata Safari SUV have been hiked up to Rs 20,000.
Thoughts About New Features & Price Hike On Tata Safari & Harrier
With the addition of new features, both the Tata Safari and Tata Harrier SUVs will be able to attract a lot more customers to the Tata dealerships across the country. Though the prices of the models have been increased post the update, the price hike is not a deal-breaker given the newly added features.
