Tata Motors Sales Report For March 2022: Strong Performance Continues
Tata Motors' sales in March 2022 stood at 86,718 units, which amounted to a YoY sales growth of almost 30 per cent as the Indian automotive giant registered just 66,462 unit sales in March 2021.

Dissecting the numbers, total commercial vehicle sales stood at 44,425 units in March 2022, whereas commercial vehicle exports were down to just 2,625 units.

This means the commercial vehicle sales in March 2022 has increased by 21 per cent in terms of YoY sales performance, whereas the commercial vehicle exports went down by more than 28 per cent as the company managed to export 3,654 units in March 2021.

In contrast, the passenger vehicle sales for Tata Motors skyrocketed as the company managed to sell 42, 293 units in March 2022, resulting in a 43 per cent increase in YoY sales performance as the company managed to sell just 29,654 units last year during the same time.

Dissecting, the domestic commercial vehicle sales for Tata Motors consists of segments such as Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCV), Intermediate & Light Commercial Vehicle, Passenger Carriers, Small Commercial Vehicle (SCV) cargo and pickup.

The M&HCV sector saw a YoY sales improvement of 33 per cent in March 2022 as the company managed to sell 14,499 units compared to just 10,883 units sold in March 2021.

On the other hand, the I&LCV sector saw a YoY sales growth of 11 per cent as the company managed to sell 7,555 units in March 2022 compared to just 6,792 units sold in March 2021.

However, the Passenger Carrier segment saw an enormous jump in YoY performance at 44 per cent improvement as the company managed to sell 2,703 units in March 2022 as opposed to just 1,880 units sold in March 2021.

Moreover, the SCV cargo and pickup sales for Tata Motors also improved as the company managed to sell 19,668 units in March 2022 amounting to a 14 per cent YoY sales increase.

Coming to passenger vehicles, the YoY sales performance of electric cars improved massively as Tata Motors managed to sell 3,357 units of electric passenger vehicles in March 2022, resulting in a YoY sales hike of almost 376 per cent.

The strong growth of Tata Motors in the passenger vehicle segment can be attributed to the brand's focus on improving the safety aspects of its passenger cars and promoting electric vehicles in Tier 1 cities.

Thanks to Tata Motors' efforts to improve the safety of its passenger vehicles, more people have become aware about the importance of safer cars.
