Tata Motors Sales Report For January 2022: Sets Record Monthly Sales Since Its Inception
In the last few years, Tata Motors has been focussing on improving the safety aspects of its passenger cars. Thanks to the brand's efforts to improve the safety of its passenger vehicles, more people have become aware of the importance of safety in automobiles.

While going back to December 2021, Tata Motors sold 35,300 units and overtook the South Korean automobile giant, Hyundai to take second place in terms of sales.

Though Hyundai regained the 2nd spot from Tata Motors in January 2022, the brand sold 40,777 units of its passenger vehicles - An improvement in overall sales compared to December 2021 and the company has set a new internal record for monthly sales since the inception of the brand.

This can be considered as a positive trajectory for Tata Motors as the company had already sold 3,31,182 units of its passenger vehicles in 2021, which is 1,61,031 units more than what the Indian brand managed to do in the year 2020.

The recently launched Tata Nexon and Tata Punch can be credited for being the 'flag-bearer' of this outstanding sales drive in January 2022 with more than 10,000 units sales.

Apart from that, Tata Motors also recorded the highest sales of EVs by selling 2,892 units of EVs in January 2022. This means Tata's EVs saw the biggest jump in sales with 463 per cent up from just 514 units in January 2021.

While the recently launched CNG variants of the Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor were also received well by the customers and together accounted for more than 3,000 units.
Speaking about the CNG models, both the Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor CNG variants will come with the same tried-and-tested 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine. However, few changes are made to this powertrain to run on CNG fuel.

While this engine produces 84.82bhp and 113Nm of torque in standard form, with the CNG fuel, this engine produces slightly lower power and torque outputs at 73bhp and 95Nm of torque.

Unlike the petrol-powered versions of the Tata Tiago, the CNG versions of the Tata Tiago comes with the 5-speed manual transmission as standard. Apart from that, Tata Motors has slightly re-tuned the suspension of CNG variants of the Tata Tiago to cope with the added weight of the factory-fitted CNG kit.
