Tata Altroz XT Dark Edition Launched At Rs 7.96 Lakhs
Indian automaker Tata Motors has launched the Dark Edition of the Altroz XT petrol for Rs 7.96 lakhs (ex-showroom). The launch of the Tata Altroz XT Dark Edtion marks the 2nd anniversary of the launch of the premium Tata hatchback in India.
The Tata Altroz XT Dark Edtion gets a few cosmetic upgrades over the regular variant. These changes include the Cosmo Dark paint job and Dark badging on the exterior. Also present on the outside are dark-tinted Hyperstyle wheels. These Hyperstyle wheels are not alloys but regular wheels with a dark paint scheme.
Inside, the Tata Altroz XT Dark Edition sports perforated leatherette upholstery along with an all-black interior colour scheme. Other changes include a height adjustable driver's seat and leather wrapped steering wheel and gearstick.
The Tata Altroz XT is offered with unchanged versions of both petrol powerplants offered with Tata's premium hatchback. The two engine options are the naturally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol and its turbocharged sibling. In its naturally aspirated guise, the inline 3-cylinder engine produces 85bhp at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of peak torque at 3,300rpm. The turbocharged version of the Altroz's 1.2-litre engine ups the power output to 108bhp at 5,500rpm while torque rises to 140Nm at just 1,500rpm. Both guises of the Altroz's 1.2-litre engine are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The regular Tata Altroz XT Dark Edition sees its price rise up by Rs 46,000 compared to its regular non 'Dark Edition' sibling. Tata Motors has not revealed the pricing yet for the Dark Edtion version of the XT i-Turbo model yet. However, we do expect the increase to be around the Rs 40k to 50k mark over the standard Altroz XT i-Turbo.
Tata Motors has also launched the Altroz XZ Plus Dark Edition diesel variant. The XZ Plus diesel Dark Edtion variant of the diesel Altroz adds a few more standard features compared to the regular model including safety gubbins like a tyre pressure monitoring system and Brake Sway control.
The powerplant remains unchanged with the 1.5-litre turbodiesel cranking out 89bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of peak torque at just 1,250rpm under the bonnet of the Tata Altroz XZ Plus Dark Edition. The engine like its petrol siblings is offered with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Tata Motors has not revealed the pricing for the XZ Plus Dark Edtion diesel variant of the Altroz as of now. However, we expect the hike to be around the same as seen on the XT petrol models ie: around Rs 40 to 50 thousand over the regular non 'Dark Edition' model. The regular Tata Altroz XZ Plus diesel is currently priced at Rs 9.70 lakh (ex-showroom).
Thoughts On The New Tata Altroz XT Dark Edition
The Tata Altroz XT Dark Edition has been launched as a way to celebrate the second anniversary of the Altroz going on sale. The Dark Edition version of the mid-spec XT variant of the Tata Altroz brings with quite a few cosmetic changes at an attractive price point which should bring in customers.
