Skoda has yet again hiked the prices of the Slavia sedan in India. This is the second time the Czech automaker has hiked the prices of the Slavia sedan in the country, and this time prices for the Slavia sedan have gone up by Rs 40,000. However, in contrast, the least price hike of Rs 1,000 was received by the Skoda Slavia 'Style' variant equipped with the 7-speed DSG transmission. This variant of the Skoda Slavia sedan now costs Rs 18.40 lakh (ex-showroom, India), up from the previous price of Rs 18.39 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
That being said, thanks to the latest price hike, the base 'Active' variant of the Skoda Slavia sedan now costs Rs 11.29 lakh (ex-showroom, India), a price hike of Rs 30,000. In comparison, the 'Ambition' variant of the Skoda Slavia sedan equipped with the manual transmission also received an identical price hike and the model now costs Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
On the other hand, the manual transmission equipped 'Style NS' and 'Style 1.5' variants of the Skoda Slavia sedan now cost Rs 14.20 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and Rs 17.00 lakh (ex-showroom, India), respectively. This means both the 'Style NS' and 'Style 1.5' variants witnessed a price hike of Rs 21,000 each. Speaking about the Skoda Slavia, the sedan is built on the same MQB-A0 IN platform as the Kushaq SUV. As a result, the exterior dimensions of the Slavia sedan is significantly larger than the Skoda Rapid sedan it replaced. In terms of numbers, the Skoda Slavia sedan measures 4,541mm long, 1,752mm wide and 1,487mm tall. Apart from that, the Czech sedan sports the longest wheelbase in its class at 2,651mm. Thanks to its large dimension, the Skoda Slavia's boot measures at 521-litres.
Skoda Slavia sedan comes with two engines. The 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine produces 113bhp of power and 175Nm of torque. Moreover, this power unit comes mated either to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
On the other hand, the 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine produces 148bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. However, the automatic transmission mated to this engine is a 7-speed DSG unit. This engine also comes with ACT (Active Cylinder Technology), which shuts down two of its four cylinders to improve fuel efficiency.
In terms of features, the Skoda Slavia sedan mimics the feature list of the Skoda Kushaq SUV with the inclusion of features such as a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with connected car tech, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, automatic climate control system, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, an electric sunroof, a wireless charger, rear AC vents and many more.
In terms of safety systems, the Slavia sedan comes with plenty of safety features such as 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, an electronic differential system (EDS), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and many more.
Thoughts About The Skoda Slavia Sedan
Though the Czech automaker has once again gained decent traction in the Indian automotive market with the launch of the Skoda Kushaq SUV and Skoda Slavia sedan in the country, such steep price hikes can lead to a negative impression among the public.
