Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV Debuts: Second All-Electric Model From The Czech Brand
Skoda debuts its second all-electric model, the Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV. Thanks to better aerodynamics and marginally lesser weight, the coupe version has improved range compared to its SUV counterpart.
The Skoda Enyaq has already been a tremendous success across Europe and Skoda Auto is planning to replicate the success by launching a more stylish Coupe variant of the highly praised Skoda Enyaq.
Speaking about the Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV, the all-electric coupe SUV from the Czech manufacturer is based on the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform, which also happens to underpin other electric vehicles such as Volkswagen iD.3, Audi Q4 e-tron, and Volkswagen iD.4.
Moreover, the new Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV is 4mm longer and 6mm taller than the Skoda Enyaq SUV, and thanks to its coupe silhouette, it even has better drag co-efficient at 0.234. However, the downside to the coupe silhouette is the reduced boot capacity at 570-litres, which is 15-litres less than the SUV version.
The interior of the new Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV also looks identical to the Skoda Enyaq iV SUV with a neatly laid dashboard which is dominated by a huge 13-inch touch screen infotainment unit. However, like the SUV model, the driver's display screen is a small 5-inch unit.
Unlike the Skoda Enyaq which is available with 5 powertrain options, such as different battery packs and drive layouts, the Enyaq Coupe iV comes with just one battery pack option.
However, the coupe version comes with a larger 82kWh battery pack that is suitable for better range, and thanks to its better aerodynamics and lesser weight, the coupe version can cover 545kms on a single charge - An improvement of 35kms compared to its SUV counterpart.
However, the Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV comes in two variants - single motor and dual-motor. The single-motor setup puts out 200bhp, whereas the dual-motor variant puts out 260bhp.
However, Skoda has not revealed any details regarding the sportier RS variant. The RS variant of the Skoda Enyaq iV SUV pushes out 302bhp and 460Nm of torque, and this variant is capable of catapulting itself from a standstill to 100 kph in just 6.2 seconds.
Apart from that, the Skoda Enyaq Coupe IV can charge from 10% to 80% in just 29 minutes with a suitable 125kW DC fast charger. However, from a regular AC output charger, the Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV could take up to 8 hours of time.
Thoughts About Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV
The Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV looks much more stylish than its SUV counterpart and offers better range. This makes it a much more interesting proposition for many EV buyers.
