English luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce has revealed the facelifted Phantom limousine. The facelifted 2022 Rolls-Royce Phantom features subtle design tweaks and a few new connected car features.
2022 Rolls-Royce Phantom Design & Feature Upgrades
Rolls-Royce is calling its facelifted luxury flagship the Phantom Series II. The new Phantom's looks have been very subtly tweaked and do not significantly alter the look and feel of one of the best-known luxury cars in the world.
Up at the front, the facelifted 2022 Rolls-Royce Phantom sports a new horizontal chrome strip sitting atop the vertical slats of the massive front grille and aligns with the LED daytime running lights of the luxury sedan.
The vertical slats are now illuminated units, which should help the plebs identify the updated Phantom. Speaking of the headlight, they now feature a laser-etched pattern quite similar to the one you see on the starlight roof lining of the sedan.
The other major design changes on the outside come in the form of new wheels. Rolls-Royce is offering the Phantom with a set of new 3D milled stainless steel wheels that feature a dual-tone look and look rather nice.
Also on offer are a new set of retro stainless steel wheels with a disc wheel design said to be inspired by the ones seen on Rolls-Royce models from the 1920s. These new disc wheels are offered in either a polished steel finish or painted with a black lacquer for a more stealthy look.
For those looking for an even more stealthy look, Rolls-Royce is offering customers the option to finish the grille, bonnet reigns and the window trim in a darkened colour option.
The changes on the inside are even more subtle with a thicker steering wheel along with more options for the Art gallery and trim. Plus as always, Rolls-Royce will allow customers to customise their cars to the heart's desire to truly make them one of a kind luxury barges for the road.
The Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II marks the arrival of 'Rolls-Royce Connected', the luxury marque's new connected car feature set. This allows for a few more smartphone connectivity features for the Phantom VIII facelift including the ability to send directions to the navigation system remotely and access the car's current location and status through the Rolls-Royce Whispers app for owners.
To celebrate the arrival of the new 2022 Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II, the carmaker has revealed a one-off special version of the car called Phantom Platino. The Phantom Platino is inspired by Platinum. The bespoke car features a makeover inspired by the precious metal on both the outside and inside. The Phantom Platino also features a rear bench seat upholstered in fabric instead of leather and makes use of ceramic trim pieces.
2022 Rolls-Royce Phantom - Mechanically Unchanged
Under the metal, the facelifted Rolls-Royce Phantom remains unchanged. The luxury limo continues to draw power from a 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine that produces 563bhp and 900Nm of peak torque. The six and three-quarter litre V12 engine sends power to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox from ZF. The Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 5.3 seconds and tops off at an electronically limited 250km/h.
