Pratap Bose Teases 2023 Mahindra XUV500 – Likely To Rival Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara & More

Pratap Bose, Chief Design Officer at Mahindra recently shared the first teaser of what appears to be Mahindra's upcoming Hyundai Creta rival.

The teaser image reveals the silhouette of the upcoming Mahindra SUV. Diving into the details, the teaser image also reveals the pronounced wheel arches and the roof spoiler of the upcoming SUV.

2023 Mahindra XUV500 Teased

Looking at Mahindra's current product portfolio, the automaker lacks a 5-seater C-segment SUV that can rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and more. This leads us to the speculation that the teased SUV could be Mahindra's attempt at a worthy C-segment SUV.

On top of that, we expect this forthcoming C-segment SUV to bring back the 'XUV500' nameplate with it. This is to be expected as the 'XUV300' nameplate has been taken by the Ssangyong Tivoli-based sub-4m SUV, whereas the 'XUV400' has been recently reserved by another Tivoli-based electric SUV that is slightly longer than the Mahindra XUV300.

That being said, we expect the upcoming Mahindra 'XUV500' to come loaded with features including the likes of connected car tech and even ADAS to compete with the tech-laden SUVs in the C-segment SUV category in India. Furthermore, we expect this SUV to be based on the Tivoli platform instead of the XUV500 platform to save weight.

It is also worth mentioning that the Ssangyong Tivoli platform will also ensure good crashworthiness to the upcoming Mahindra 'XUV500' SUV as the Mahindra XUV300 based on the same platform bagged a 5-Star safety rating from the Global NCAP. Also, expect safety features such as 7-airbags, ABS, ESC, traction control, hill-descent control, and much more.

Furthermore, we expect the upcoming Mahindra 'XUV500' to come with features such as an electric sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, a digital driver's display, a wireless charging pad and much more. Moreover, Mahindra could also equip the top-spec variant of this upcoming SUV with ADAS.

In terms of pricing, we expect this upcoming Mahindra XUV to have a starting price around the Rs 10 lakh bracket and the top-spec models with all the bells and whistles to go as high as Rs 18 lakh. Moreover, expect this SUV to be unveiled around the Auto Expo 2023.

Thoughts About The New 2023 Mahindra 'XUV500'

We expect the upcoming Mahindra 'XUV500' to be very successful in the highly competitive C-segment SUV category if the company manages to price the SUV competitively without managing to skimp on advanced features. Additionally, we expect Mahindra to launch both automatic and manual models at the same time to attract
