Porsche 718 Style Editions Revealed For Boxster & Cayman
German sportscar manufacturer Porsche has revealed the Style Editions of the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman.
German sportscar manufacturer Porsche has revealed the Style Editions of the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman. The Style Edition versions of the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman are based on the entry-level versions of both cars.
The 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster Style Editions both feature a special exterior paint scheme dubbed Rubystar Neo, which provides a modern interpretation of the Rubystar paint job of the legendary Porsche 911 Carrera RS of the 964 generation.
Owners of the Style Editions of the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman can opt for other colour options but even so the exclusive options for these special models are clearly distinguishable.
These options include the 20-inch Spyder wheels with the Porsche crests on the wheel hub covers, the blacked-out central tailpipes and the Porsche lettering at the back finished in high gloss silver. The 718 Boxster Style Edition features the "Boxster" lettering embossed above the side windows that is also added to the soft top as an exclusive label.
Those putting down their orders for the Style Editions of the 718 Cayman and the 718 Boxster can choose between two different contrast packages at no extra charge.
The two contrast packages offered are black and white with the wheels, the bonnet stripe, the 'Porsche' decorative lettering on the sides and the model badges at the rear all finished in the contrast colour option chosen by the owners.
Step inside the Style Edition versions of the 718 Boxster convertible or the 718 Cayman coupe and you'll find the leather package in black for the cabin. Also seen on the inside is the contrast stitching in chalk, illuminated door sill panels in stainless steel and the Porsche Crest on the headrests of the Style Edition cars.
The Style Editions of the Boxster and Cayman also come packed with a boatload of kit as standard. The standard kit on the two Style Edition models includes BiXenon main headlights with LED daytime running lights, ParkAssist front and rear including a rearview camera, cruise control, automatically dimming exterior and interior mirrors with rain sensor, heated leather steering wheel, heated seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and Power Steering Plus.
As stated earlier the Style Editions of the 718 Boxster and Cayman are based on the entry-level versions of both cars and remain unchanged mechanically. This means that the Style Editions of the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman continue to draw power from a 2.0-litre turbocharged flat-four engine capable of producing 296bhp and 380Nm of peak torque.
Both cars get the six-speed manual as standard but can be fitted with the optional 7-speed PDK (dual clutch) gearbox. When shifted manually, the 718 Style Editions will sprint from 0-100km/h in just 5.1 seconds (4.7s with the PDK) and hit a top speed of 275km/h.
Thoughts On The Porsche 718 Style Editions
The Porsche 718 Style Editions bring a few cosmetic changes to the Boxster and Cayman which should allow buyers of these cars to stand out from the rest of their brethren.
