Nissan India Achieves 100 Per Cent YoY Growth In FY21: Magnite Gets 1 Lakh Bookings

Though these numbers are decent for a manufacturer with just a few products in its current product portfolio, YoY sales for March 2022 registered a decline of more than 25 per cent as the Japanese automaker managed to sell 4,012 units in March 2021.

However, MoM sales for Nissan India improved by more than 22 per cent as the company could only sell 2,456 units in February 2022.

Recently, Nissan had announced that it has manufactured 50,000 units of Magnite SUV in India, since its launch last year in the country and has received more than 1 lakh bookings for the sub-4m SUV.

Speaking about the Nissan Magnite SUV, the compact SUV was launched in India back in 2020, and it soon became a game-changer for the Japanese automaker in India with strong sales performance.

It is commendable that the Nissan Magnite SUV has generated over 1 lakh+ bookings despite the pandemic related difficulties in the Indian automobile market.

Apart from that, the Nissan Magnite SUV is built on the same CMF-A+ platform that underpins other Renault-Nissan vehicles such as the Renault Triber and the platform itself is a derivative of the CMF-A platform that happens to form the backbone of the Renault Kwid.

In the crash test conducted by the G-NCAP, the Nissan Magnite SUV scored 11.85 points out of 17 points, enabling the SUV to score a 4-Star rating for adult occupant protection. In addition to that, the Nissan Maginite SUV scored 24.88 points out of 49 points for child occupant protection.

Previously, the Nissan Magnite SUV has also scored a 4-Star rating in the ASEAN-NCAP crash test.

The Nissan Magnite SUV is offered with two engine options. The base engine option is a 1.0-litre, naturally-aspirated, 3-cylinder, petrol engine with 72bhp of peak power and 96Nm of peak torque.

The second engine option is a more powerful 1.0-litre, turbocharged, 3-cylinder, petrol engine with 98.6bhp of peak power and 160Nm of peak torque (152Nm of torque in the CVT gearbox model). In addition to this, transmission options for this engine includes a 5-speed manual transmission and a CVT gearbox.

At present, Nissan Magnite SUV is available in 4 different trim levels - XE, XL, XV, and XV Premium. Prices for the Nissan Magnite SUV starts from Rs 5.84 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the ‘XE' variant and goes all the way up to Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for top-spec ‘XV 1.0 Turbo Premium CVT'.
