New Maruti Suzuki XL6 India Launch Teased: New Engine & Transmission, Updated Features & Design
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for a few new launches this month. The updated Ertiga and the XL6 are expected to start the launch proceedings. The brand released a teaser video for the new XL6, which showcases the MPV in a far-off shot.
The 2022 XL6 is expected to be launched by the end of April with pre-bookings said to begin in the coming days. Here is what we can expect from the updated MPV.
2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Exterior Updates
The new XL6 could feature several upgrades over the outgoing MPV model. This includes a new front-end design with a reworked grille, bumper and headlamps. The side profile could also see a few changes with new body cladding and alloy wheel design.
The rear of the 2022 XL6 might see only a few changes including subtle changes to the taillamps. With all the exterior design changes, the MPV could also be offered with a couple of new exterior colours.
On the inside, the new XL6 will continue to be offered in a six-seater configuration with captain seats in the middle row. The updated MPV could feature an all-new seat upholstery and a few changes to the dashboard design.
The interiors of the new XL6 could feature a semi-digital instrument cluster, a 7.0-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. The infotainment system could also feature an improved voice-assistance system.
Other features include a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls, leather upholstery, rear AC vents, cruise control and more.
Safety features on the MPV include dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, reverse parking sensors, a high-speed warning alert, front seat belts with pre-tensioners and force limiters, ABS with EBS, ESP, and a hill-hold function. The top-varaints of the MPV could receive six airbags.
2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Engine
The XL6 will be powered by the 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine replacing the K15B mild-hybrid engine on the outgoing model. The K15B engine produces a maximum of 103bhp at 6000rpm and a peak torque of 138Nm at 4400rpm.
On the other hand, the new engine will not be a mild-hybrid technology and is expected to produce 10bhp more than the outgoing engine.
The K15B engine comes mated to either a five-speed transmission or a four-speed torque converter automatic. However, the new engine is expected to come mated to either a five-speed transmission or a six-speed torque converter automatic with a paddle shifter.
2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Price & Rivals
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is available in four variants and retails at a starting price of Rs 10.14 lakh. While the top-spec automatic variant costs Rs 12.02 lakh. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom (Delhi). The updated model is expected to be a bit pricer than the outgoing model.
