New Mahindra XUV300 Officially Teased
Mahindra has now officially teased the upcoming updated Mahindra XUV300 SUV. However, from the outside, the update is a mild one and barely noticeable. However, the big changes are expected to be under the skin with a more powerful turbocharged petrol engine.
Looking at the Mahindra XUV300, the sub-4m SUV still looks fresh, and the new update makes it a bit more contemporary. Moreover, the only noticeable change is the new Twin Peaks logo at the front.
Also, with ever-tightening competition in the sub-4m segment in the country, it is essential for Mahindra to roll out an updated iteration of the Mahindra XUV300 SUV to keep up with the competition.
While the model was previously spied testing, it was clear that the test mule only wore a mild camouflage sticker on the front. This means the upcoming updated Mahindra XUV300 SUV won't be sporting any design changes at the sides or at the rear.
However, looking closer at the teaser image released by Mahindra, the upcoming Mahindra XUV300 seems to sport a slightly different foglight housing with chrome elements, and the SUV also seems to sport slightly larger alloy wheels as well. Other than this, the upcoming Mahindra XUV300 SUV also comes with a white roof and a new shade of red exterior colour.
Though changes on the exterior are kept to a minimum, we are still expecting a few more changes on the inside with changes such as a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This change is more likely as the newly launched Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUV also uses an identical system.
However, the biggest update will be in terms of its powertrain as the teaser image itself carries the caption "0-thrill in a blink of an eye". This caption itself confirms that the upcoming updated iteration of the Mahindra XUV300 SUV will sport a more powerful powertrain.
According to various sources, it is certain that the updated powertrain is the petrol unit and the new 1.2-litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine is expected to push out 130bhp of power and 230Nm of torque.
In comparison, the outgoing iteration produces 109bhp of peak power and 200Nm of peak torque from its 1.2-litre turbocharged engine. On the other hand, the diesel powertrain is a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel unit producing a healthy 115bhp of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque. However, this engine is likely to remain without any changes.
In terms of transmission options, both the petrol and diesel engines can be specified with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT automatic transmission.
At present, the Mahindra XUV300 is one of the safest sub-4m SUVs you can buy in India with a 5-star safety rating for adult occupant protection from Global-NCAP and sports safety features such as 7-airbags, corner braking control, ABS, EBD, Traction Control (TC), and front and rear parking sensors.
Thoughts About Mahindra XUV300 Update
With the official teaser out, we expect Mahindra to soon launch the updated XUV300 SUV in India and benefit from the sales push during the upcoming festive season in India.
