The French car manufacturer Citroen has finally launched the facelifted version of the C5 Aircross SUV in India at Rs 36.67 lakh (ex-showroom, India). However, there is no hybrid powertrain as expected, and the French marque continues to use the tried-and-tested 2.0-litre oil burner.
But that doesn't mean that the 2022 Citroen C5 Aircross SUV is without any changes. In fact, Citroen has thoroughly updated the exterior of the SUV. Whereas, a few key areas of the interior have also been reimagined. Overall, the mid-life facelift has done a lot of favour to the design of the Citroen C5 Aircross as the SUV now looks a lot fresher and more youthful.
Diving into the details, the front portion of the Citroen C5 Aircross no longer gets split headlamps and DRLs. Instead, the new Citroen C5 Aircross SUV now gets a single-piece LED headlight with two LED DRLs that neatly merge with the front grille.
Complimenting these changes at the front is the new reprofiled front bumper with vertical air intakes. Coming to the sides, the new facelifted Citroen C5 Aircross SUV gets a set of new 18-inch alloy wheels, gloss black mirror caps, and matte black roof rails as well.
Though the changes at the rear are a bit understated, the updated LED taillamps with new 3D graphics make the facelifted iteration of the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV look a lot more premium. Moreover, all these changes make the facelifted iteration of the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV a lot more sporty and youthful.
Though changes on the interior of the facelifted Citroen C5 Aircross are a bit less drastic, the updated 10-inch free-standing infotainment unit makes itself immediately noticeable and in the process, makes the cabin look a bit fresher as well.
It is also worth mentioning that the central AC vents are now placed below the infotainment unit and sport a more conventional design as well. Thanks to all these changes, the new infotainment screen now sits a few millimetres higher and more of the screen is now present in the line-of-sight.
Apart from that, Citroen claims that the new C5 Aircross SUV now gets new Advanced Comfort Seating. These seats come with an additional 15mm of foam and offer ventilation as well. Notable features include a panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, electrically adjustable front seats, wireless charger and more.
Coming to the powertrain, the new 2022 Citroen C5 Aircross continues to use the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. This engine puts out 176.8bhp of peak power and 400Nm of peak torque. Moreover, power is sent to the front wheels via the same 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
In India, the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV directly competes with models such as Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass, and Volkswagen Tiguan.
Thoughts About The Facelifted Citroen C5 Aircross SUV
The Citroen C5 Aircross is an SUV that clearly has its sights set on comfort rather than off-road prowess like most other SUVs. With the latest update, Citroen has not only upped the comfort levels, but they also made the SUV look a bit more youthful as well.
