MG 4 EV Scores 5-Star Safety Rating At Euro NCAP - 450Km Range, ADAS & More
MG 4 EV scored a very respectable 5-Star safety rating at the latest round of Euro NCAP crash safety tests.
That being said, the MG 4 EV electric hatchback was recently unveiled by the Chinese-owned British car manufacturer, and it has been reported that the electric hatchback will be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023 in India.
Diving into the details of the Euro NCAP crash tests, the MG 4 EV secured 83 per cent in the Adult Occupant Protection crash test with a score of 31.6 points out of 38 points. On top of that, the MG 4 EV scored 39.5 points out of 49 points in the Child Occupant Protection crash test.
Coming to the safety systems, the MG 4 EV electric hatchback secured 78 per cent with a score of 12.6 points out of 16 points. It is also worth mentioning that the MG 4 EV scored just 40.6 points out of 54 points in the Vulnerable Road User test.
In comparison, the MG 4 EV 's nearest rival, the BYD Atto 3 also scored a 5-Star safety rating at the Euro NCAP, but scores were slightly better as the electric SUV secured 91 per cent in the Adult Occupant Protection crash test as opposed to 83 per cent secured by MG 4 EV.
While the MG 4 EV tested by Euro NCAP is a left-hand drive unit, these scores are also applicable to the right-hand drive models of the upcoming electric hatchback as well. This is because both variants of the electric hatchback are very similar to each other.
The MG 4 EV comes with a single electric motor driving the rear wheels, and comes with two options for the battery pack. This includes a decent-sized 51kWh battery pack and a much larger 64kWh battery pack. It is also worth mentioning that the former powertrain comes with a 168bhp electric motor and the latter uses a more powerful 201bhp electric motor. However, both variants of the electric vehicle offer 250Nm of peak torque.
Thoughts About The MG 4 EV
Though the MG ZS EV is a more than decent electric SUV with plenty of features and a decent powertrain, the electric SUV lacks the excitement of other modern electric vehicles such as the BYD Atto 3. That being said, the MG 4 EV comes with all the essentials to be a successful EV in India.
